Last week, Station hosted crew members from the HMBS Bahamas (P-60) of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force during their inaugural port call here at U.S. Coast Guard Base Miami Beach.

While here in Miami, the crew was able to participate in training exercises while getting a firsthand look at the capabilities of our newest surface asset, the Special Purpose Craft - Law Enforcement II (SPC-LE II), during a non-compliant vessel demonstration.

Continuous collaboration with our international maritime partners helps the U.S. Coast Guard remain vigilant in ongoing efforts to conduct timely search and rescue missions and combat illegal migration throughout the Florida Straits.

This past weekend, U.S. Coast Guard boarding officers and marine investigators from Station and U.S. Coast Guard Sector Miami worked alongside maritime law enforcement personnel from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife, and the City of Miami Police Department's Marine Patrol, in an ongoing effort to halt illegal passenger-for-hire operations along the Miami River and Marine Stadium.

Station urges individuals looking to enjoy the to to see their Merchant Mariner Credentials before chartering a vessel. DO NOT put your life and the lives of your family and friends in the hands of an unqualified captain or crew. The U.S. Coast Guard has numerous measures in place to ensure charter operators are conducting safe and legal voyages for paying passengers.

To report illegal charters, download the CGIS Tips app or submit an anonymous tip on-line (https://tinyurl.com/CGIStips). Please be as descriptive as possible so appropriate actions can be taken. Help us make sure everyone stays safe on our waterways.

Help us congratulate our Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ), ME2 Mark Fischer 🎉!!! ME2 Fischer earned Station’s SOQ designation through his demonstrated adeptness in fulfilling critical roles as a Law Enforcement Petty Officer, Law Enforcement Instructor, Weapons Petty Officer, Fi****ms Instructor (FAI), and a Boarding Officer. ME2’s superior task prioritization and time management, enabled him to certify over 40 members on four different weapons systems, plan and execute a two-week Boarding Team Member college for 15 active duty and reserve members, and give valuable law enforcement training to numerous units in the Miami area that bolstered operational readiness across South Florida.

BZ to you, ME2 Fischer!!! We Thank You for remaining Semper Paratus!

Last night, Station responded to a report of a capsized and adrift catamaran with 02 persons onboard near Stiltsville. The CG-2317 crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Miami was able to locate the vessel and vector Station’s CG-33128 crew to the distressed mariners’ location.
