✨ Today, I had the incredible honor of joining a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Miami Beach Senior High to celebrate the latest chapter in our culinary program’s journey! Looking back, this accomplishment represents the dedication and hard work of so many people, and I am filled with gratitude and pride in our community.

My journey with this program in 2017 when Adrian Gonzalez shared the opportunity with me during my time as a City Commissioner. It was Adrian’s vision that inspired us to take action and make a difference in our students’ lives. A heartfelt thank you to Andres Asion as well, who has continued to champion this cause tirelessly and kept me connected to this vision along the way. Without their passion and commitment, we wouldn’t be here today.

I also want to recognize the 2017 Commission for supporting this initiative. My deepest thanks to then-Mayor Philip Levine, Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, Micky Steinberg, Ricky Arriola City of Miami Beach Commissioner, Michael Grieco, and the late Joy Malakoff for believing in the impact this program would have on our students and our community.

As one of the world’s top hospitality destinations, Miami Beach is uniquely positioned to foster the next generation of culinary professionals. Programs like this one afford our students an invaluable opportunity to pursue careers in this field if that is their passion, adding their talents to the vibrant hospitality industry we’re so proud of.

Thank you to everyone involved including Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce for your dedication and for keeping the spirit of this program alive. Here’s to many more years of student success in our Miami Beach community! 🥂

The City of Miami Beach will hold three public community meetings to review the planned pilot for Restricted Residential Parking Permit (RRPP) zones in North Beach. This initiative is designed to protect the quality of life of North Beach residents in places where residential parking is significantly impacted by competing uses and/or a high concentration of parked vehicles.

The engineers behind the NOAA's new drone, named Sales Drone, which was deployed into Hurricane Beryl, include a collaborative team from NOAA and various research institutions. This team specializes in developing advanced unmanned aerial systems designed to collect critical data from severe weather conditions. Florida is the number 3 state for missing children. "One in three teens are recruited for commercially exploited s*x within 48 hours of leaving their home. Those predators know exactly what they're looking for," our state attorney said. 🚨 if you are struggling with the relationship with your teenager, you need to get help - from family, from community, from professionals- before your child ends up on the street and devastated forever. 🙏. Over the last 6 weeks, U.S. Marshals announced they found over 200 kids nationwide, with the majority of kids in dangerous situations. Thirty-one of them were found in Miami-Dade alone.

Rhythm Foundation and MyFi Studio are proud to announce a new project for Bandshell Laboratories’ 2024 season: ARCHIVE ALIVE. Archive Alive will be a public facing archive with curated selections and interactive elements online, using mixed media from the Rhythm Foundation’s 35+ year archives. Each drop will feature custom electronic instruments and music toys for the public to play (with) the archive. MyFi is also building a semantic database for the Rhythm Foundation's internal archive. Stay on the lookout for our first drop later this year!

Bandshell Laboratories is Rhythm Foundation’s initiative to commission new work, incorporate visual arts into the live music setting, and help artists to launch innovative projects using the resources of the Miami Beach Bandshell. Presented with support from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation CreARTE grant.

If people need assistance with evacuation and sheltering because they require special transportation, have no transportation or have medical needs that prevent leaving the area on their own, they are encouraged to register with the county by calling 305-513-7700. You should not wait until an evacuation order is given to request being added to the registry as resources are limited.
