From serving his country to serving the community that raised him. 💙🖤

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Officer Devon Jenrette, who was officially sworn in by Chief Delma K. Noel-Pratt, surrounded by members of our command staff and his new colleagues at the Miami Gardens Police Department.

Officer Jenrette’s commitment to service didn’t begin with the badge. Having already served our country, he continues that calling by dedicating himself to protecting and serving others—this time, right here at home.

As a Miami Gardens kid, this moment carries an even deeper meaning. He now has the opportunity to protect the same streets, families, and community that helped shape the person he is today. There’s something special about coming full circle—not just returning home, but returning with a purpose to serve it.

Officer Jenrette, welcome to the MGPD family. As you begin your career, we wish you continued growth, strength, wisdom, and success. May you always remember the community behind the badge and the responsibility that comes with wearing it.

Sometimes wellness looks like simply taking a moment to connect. 💛🖤

Our MGPD Wellness Pop-Up was all about stepping away from the daily routine, checking in on one another, sharing some laughs, and enjoying time together as a team.

From games and giveaways to raffles, refreshments, and plenty of good vibes, it was great seeing our employees relax, have fun, and strengthen the bonds that make our MGPD family stronger.

A special thank you to our MGPD Employee Wellness Committee for creating a space that reminds us that taking care of ourselves—and each other—matters.

And that’s a wrap on Chief for the Day: Chief Peyton! 👮🏾‍♂️⭐️

What started as an opportunity to give Peyton a firsthand look at law enforcement became an experience we hope he—and everyone who followed his journey—will remember for years to come.

A special THANK YOU to every member of the agency staff who played a part in making this experience possible. From those who helped coordinate and participate to everyone working behind the scenes, your time, support, and enthusiasm helped make Chief Peyton’s day truly special. 🖤💛

Most importantly, thank you to Chief Peyton for bringing his confidence, curiosity, energy, and personality to MGPD! We hope this experience continues to inspire him as he pursues his dream of one day becoming a police officer.

And who knows… maybe one day we’ll see him wearing the badge right here in the City of Miami Gardens.

From Cadet to Graduate — and one step closer to the badge.

Today, we proudly celebrate Cadet Devon Jenrette on his graduation from the Police Academy at Miami Dade College North Campus!

For the past 27 weeks, Devon faced the physical demands, mental challenges, long days, and sacrifices required to prepare for a career dedicated to protecting and serving others. Today, he stood among 37 graduates from BLE 403 who successfully completed that journey—and we couldn’t be prouder to see him reach this milestone.

To the academy trainers and staff, his family and friends, and everyone who stood beside him throughout this process—thank you. And to his brothers and sisters in blue from the academy, thank you for being the support system that reminds us no one has to make this journey alone.

What made today even more meaningful was having members of MGPD’s current cadet cycle there to witness Devon’s accomplishment. We hope they saw more than a graduation—we hope they saw what’s waiting for them on the other side of perseverance.

Devon, you did the work. You pushed through. And now, you’ve given those coming behind you another reason to keep going.

Congratulations, Cadet Jenrette. Miami Gardens is waiting for you. 💛🖤
