Richard “Rick” Burr December 30th 1954 - June 5th 2025
On June 5th, my dad and the driving force behind Possum Posse passed away after a brief battle with cancer. I know him as an incredible father and grandfather but you all got to see him for his passion for animals and nature. Over the last couple of decades he spent the majority of his time rehabilitating animals and sharing that journey with you all. Building this Facebook community was one of his proudest accomplishments and I am so thankful for all of you being supportive of his work. I know he touched many lives across people and animals and bettered the world in his lifetime. I’m so proud to call him my dad and continue to build on his legacy.
While we will be pausing our animal rehabilitation efforts, we are working on continuing his conservation efforts at his other project, Gator Inlet. A project he was very excited about there but unable to accomplish was installing osprey polls to help keep them in our ecosystem and thriving. We have decided to raise money in an effort to bring this to life in his honor. Please feel free to follow our journey as we create a lasting monument to Rick. We would also love to hear about any memories or stories you have of my dad as a way to remember him and his lasting impact.
