The Florida Energy Saver Program is seeking licensed general contractors to help establish its Qualified Contractor Network. The program is designed to help Florida residents reduce energy costs and improve home comfort through qualified energy-efficiency upgrades.

A Request for Proposals has been issued seeking Statements of Qualifications from licensed general contractors interested in participating in the program.

Miami-Dade County’s Easy Perks program was recently featured in Community Newspapers, highlighting an innovative way to support small and local businesses while providing added benefits to transit riders.

Through Easy Perks, participating businesses can receive advertising exposure across Miami-Dade Transit in exchange for offering discounts to transit riders. For small businesses that may not have the resources to invest in large-scale advertising, the program provides a unique opportunity to reach potential customers throughout the County.

The program creates a win-win for our community—helping local businesses increase their visibility and connect with new customers while offering valuable discounts and incentives to transit riders.

The Strategic Procurement Department (SPD) was recently featured in Comercio TV, highlighting the upcoming 7th Annual Procurement Expo and the opportunities available for small and local businesses interested in doing business with the County and beyond.
The show features Ana M. Rioseco, SPD’s Local Competition Advocate, who shares how the Expo connects businesses with more than 40 government agencies, municipalities, educational institutions, hospitals, and community partners. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore contracting opportunities, learn about vendor registration and certification programs, access business resources, and network directly with procurement professionals.

On July 21, 2026, the Strategic Procurement Department (SPD) Real Estate Division visited the Coconut Grove Playhouse construction site to see the project's progress firsthand. SPD is proud to partner with the Department of Cultural Affairs in supporting the procurement and real estate needs of this transformational Miami-Dade County project.

This transformational project will preserve the historic Coconut Grove Playhouse while creating a vibrant, modern performing arts venue that expands access to arts and culture, strengthens the local economy, and serves generations of residents and visitors.

On June 30, the Strategic Procurement Department's Office of Real Estate and Development team hosted Industry Day at the Miami-Dade Historic Courthouse in preparation for the property's upcoming auction.

The event offered attendees a comprehensive overview of the historic property, its redevelopment potential, and the auction process. County leadership, economic development partners, and the GovDeals marketplace team joined prospective buyers to explore one of the region's most significant adaptive reuse opportunities.

On June 26, 2026, the Miami-Dade County Strategic Procurement Department (SPD) hosted a Vendor Registration Bootcamp at the North Dade Regional Library, with approximately 65 local businesses.
SPD staff assisted participants to complete Part 1 of the County’s vendor registration application and provided step-by-step guidance on how to navigate the INFORMS bidding portal as well as apply for Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification.
SPD remains committed to making the procurement process more accessible and helping vendors increase their knowledge and readiness to pursue contracting opportunities with the County.

The Strategic Procurement Department (SPD) was recently featured in Community Newspapers, highlighting the Department’s national recognition for innovation and excellence while supporting the delivery of major projects across Miami-Dade County.

SPD was recently honored with the 2026 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute, marking the 20th time Miami-Dade County’s procurement organization has received this prestigious recognition. The Department also earned three 2026 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards for innovative technology initiatives that enhance efficiency, transparency, and public service.

Beyond national recognition, SPD continues to play a vital role in delivering transformational County projects, including the new Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department campus, which will modernize critical detention operations and improve services across the criminal justice system.

These achievements underscore SPD’s commitment to innovation, responsible stewardship of public resources, and strategic procurement practices that strengthen government and deliver lasting value to the community.
