I have GOOD news and not so good news. The good news is the bridge on MO-122 between Marshall and the park is now open. The not so good news is that due to continued increases in COVID-19 cases in our state, our cultural center and office will be closed through January 31st. The rest of the park remains open for day use, hiking, and camping.

There are so many mental health benefits to spending time in nature, including the relief of daily stressors. Just like adults, children are less stressed when they have outdoor spaces to retreat to occasionally. Studies have found that holding a class outdoors one day a week can significantly decrease cortisol levels in kids, which helps with anxiety and depression. We are have a shelter house reserved for July 17th is it going to be usable or has there been flooding there
My boyfriend and I always loved this place when we were younger. Now bringing our kids out here, it seems like they have let it go. Not all the trails are kept up and are too grassy to walk through. Even some of the fields are too tall to walk with our kids through. It was like this last year as well. Just kind of a disappointment what this beautiful park has come to. Especially with not much else to do with all this craziness going on. Would be great to see it restored and maintained like it once was. 💚
