At this time, with the context of the current emergency level in our municipality, water services with the geography boundaries of Miami are managed by AZ Water Company. Our administration is maintaining ongoing communication with the management of AZ Water Company to ascertain the anticipated timeline for a satisfactory water quality test.

Tomorrow at 10 AM, AZ Water will receive the results of a test that was conducted earlier today at 10 AM, following a 24-hour waiting period. Alongside providing public information, we are working closely with the Miami Unified School District #40 to ensure that the safety of both staff and students is secure before classes resume next Tuesday.

No one was ready for this emergency in any way, but we are actively developing alternatives and strategies as we await the water test results.

Full closures scheduled on US 60 between Superior and Miami Sept. 9
Detour in place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Map-US 60 Superior to Miami-revised 3-2-26
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closures on US 60 for a bridge replacement project:

US 60 between Superior and Miami (mileposts 227-243) will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9.
Detour: Eastbound US 60 drivers can use southbound State Route 177 through Winkelman to northbound SR 77. Westbound US 60 drivers may use southbound SR 77 through Winkelman to northbound SR 177. Due to the roughly 75-mile length of this detour, drivers may want to consider planning travel before 9 a.m. and after 2 p.m. The detour is estimated to add an additional hour for trips between Superior and Miami.

Upcoming full closures:

Full closures of US 60 between Superior and Miami are tentatively scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, Wednesday, Sept. 16, and Thursday, Sept. 17. A detour will be put in place during the full closures.
Lane restrictions, speed reductions and a 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. Oversize loads may be accommodated with advance notice.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
