For 50 years, the Florida Network of Youth and Family Services has been a lifeline for Florida’s most vulnerable children and families. This year, we’re proud to join the Network in celebrating half a century of advocacy and impact.

As a Florida Network member organization, LSF Miami Bridge is proud to be part of a statewide system dedicated to strengthening families, supporting young people and building stronger communities across Florida.

As summer winds down, we're taking a moment to relive this outdoor field day hosted by Oasis Youth Shelter — just one of so many fun activities and excursions we got to share with the youth in our care this season. A time was had! 🏃‍♀️🤸‍♂️

From field days to everything else this summer brought, we're grateful for every moment of play, connection and joy we got to create together.

Last Thursday our team was out in the community! 🙌

Program Director Brandon Cave and Senior Administrative Assistant/HR Liaison Lashay Richardson joined the LSF table at the Miami-Dade College Federal Job Fair, alongside Vanessa Cotto, Talent Acquisition Specialist at LSF.

Our team connected with amazing candidates, shared open opportunities, and introduced attendees to who LSF and LSF Miami Bridge are and the communities we're honored to serve.

Beyond recruitment, it was a chance to put a face to our mission and show the work we do to bring healing, hope and help to youth and families.

Our presence matters. Our voices matter. Here's to more community connections ahead. 💙

Thank you to Florida City Mayor Charlotte Thompson for visiting LSF Miami Bridge’s Homestead Campus! 🙌

Mayor Thompson toured the campus with our shelter manager and program director and LSF leadership, and was welcomed by our youth and staff. Ahead of the new school year, she sat down with the youth in our care to talk about servant leadership, her role in the community, and her passion for youth advocacy and mentorship.

She and her team also joined us for lunch, breaking bread with our dedicated staff and the incredible kids we serve.

Thank you, Mayor Thompson and her team, for taking the time to learn about the youth and family advocacy mission behind LSF Miami Bridge. 💙

Every child deserves the opportunity to walk into their classroom feeling empowered, supported and ready to learn. 💙📚

Thank you to the coalition of 13 local businesses and nonprofit organizations that came together Sunday at The Cut Stop Barbershop in Palmetto Bay to make that possible for students across our community, including youth served by LSF Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services.

Leading this effort was LSF Miami Bridge Advisory Board Member Dr. Alecia Rodriguez and her nonprofit, the Sadie's Daughter Initiative, whose generosity helped bring together free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, hair braiding, sports physicals, hygiene kits, meals, counseling vouchers and other essential resources for local students.

For many young people, especially those who have experienced trauma or instability, starting the school year with confidence can make all the difference. We are grateful to every partner, volunteer and supporter who helped ensure these students begin the year prepared to succeed.

Special thanks to WPLG Local 10 News for capturing and sharing the impact of this community-wide effort.

Our youth continue to have a great summer break, thanks to our incredible staff who go above and beyond to keep them engaged, learning and having fun. Check out some of the activities at our Miami Central Campus:

🕵️ Ms. Cleo led an investigative game, challenging youth to use deductive reasoning to solve a mock crime.
🏓 Mr. Jesus facilitated a lively table ping pong group.
💬 Ms. Shadeaw hosted a life skills and health group discussion.

At LSF Miami Bridge, every activity is an opportunity to build confidence, critical thinking and connection. Thank you to our amazing team for making it happen!

For Jose Ortega, a veteran counselor with more than 20 years at our organization, that work begins with community-based support. Through our First Stop for Families program, we help youth and their families break cycles of conflict, teaching children to manage big emotions, reduce “out of control” behaviors, and strengthen the parent-child bond.

According to the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Florida Abuse, in Florida alone, more than 186,000 reports of child abuse were made in a single year, with over 24,000 confirmed cases. Early intervention matters. Addressing challenges at their root can change the trajectory for an entire family.

As July comes to a close, we're looking back on some fun summer memories! We kicked off the month with a Fourth of July Spirit Day ahead of Independence Day, and our team showed up in red, white and blue, with an LSF Miami Bridge twist.

🎨 Museum of Graffiti in Wynwood: the boys explored Miami's vibrant street art scene
🤾 Games with Ms. Tonya: coordination, skill, and lots of laughs
🗣️ Circle time with Mr. Willie: powerful conversations and emotional testimonials that built trust and connection
🏓 Indoor pickleball with Mr. Jose: friendly competition and teamwork
🍕 Homemade pizza with Mama T: made with love, shared with joy

Our team reminds our kids that they are seen supported, and celebrated, not just as kids in our care, but simply as kids.

We were grateful to welcome back volunteers from VOUS Church to our Miami Central Campus! 💙

The team did a phenomenal job organizing our donation closet and porch, as well as painting our outdoor benches. Their hard work helped create a more welcoming and organized space for the youth in our care.

A special thank-you to advisory board member Patty Bulack for helping coordinate this meaningful day of service and for her continued support alongside VOUS Church. We deeply appreciate everyone who gave their time to support our mission!
