Small businesses are truly the heartbeat of our North Miami community!

A huge congratulations to my colleague, District 4 Councilman Pierre Frantz Charles, on hosting an incredibly successful 2026 District 4 Small Business Expo at the Joe Celestin Center.

It was wonderful to see North Miami CRA Director Anna-Bo Emmanuel join in on a day that brought together our brilliant entrepreneurs, industry experts, and community leaders. Events like this—filled with meaningful networking, informative panel discussions, and vital resources—provide exactly what our local businesses need to launch, grow, and thrive.

I am always proud to see our city and the North Miami CRA supporting initiatives that empower our entrepreneurs, strengthen our local economy, and create new opportunities for success.

Congratulations again, Councilman Charles! Together, we grow. Together, we thrive.

Last week, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, we took a significant step forward in honoring our responsibility to build a safer and more connected city. I was truly honored to join my colleagues on the City Council, key city staff, and many engaged community members to officially break ground on the 131st Street Pedestrian Bridge.

This project is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when we prioritize the essential infrastructure that improves our daily lives. This is not just about construction; it is about creating that vital, safer, and more accessible connection for pedestrians that our community has called for.

By enhancing mobility across District 3 and the entire city, we are investing in our quality of life and launching a "new chapter for North Miami." We look forward to seeing this essential connection come to fruition.

As Councilwoman for District 3, I want to speak directly and transparently to the residents of the city of North Miami following yesterday’s ruling in the case involving three of our city’s elected officials. The court’s decision, confirming that no actionable violations of Florida’s Sunshine Law were established,
brings clarity after months of speculation, tension, and concern within our community.

The judge’s findings affirm what many of us have maintained from the beginning: that the allegations presented did not meet the legal threshold required and did not justify injunctive relief. While the process has been difficult for our city, it is important to recognize that due process was followed, evidence was examined, and the court reached its conclusion based on the law.

Throughout this period, I have remained steadfast in my commitment to act in good faith, follow legal counsel, and uphold the responsibilities entrusted to me by the residents of District 3. My priority has always been and will continue to be protecting the integrity of our institutions, ensuring transparency in government, and safeguarding the wellbeing of our community. As the legal team reviews the written order in full, we will continue to evaluate any findings that may require clarification or correction. Accountability and accuracy matter, and we will address any inconsistencies through the proper channels.

But today, my message is simple: North Miami deserves stability, unity, and leadership focused on progress not distraction. Our residents have faced enough uncertainty. It is time to move forward with renewed purpose.

District 3 is strong. Our community is resilient. And our city is ready to continue the work of building safer neighborhoods, expanding economic opportunities, empowering families, and strengthening trust between residents and their government.

I remain deeply grateful for the prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support from so many of you. I will continue to serve with dignity, compassion, and an unshakeable commitment to the people of North Miami.
