Exempt was designed for the frequent traveler, casual vacationer, visitors or the online shopper. Most Bahamians travel for vacation, school or business and in traveling you know what comes with it, SHOPPING! If you're reading this that tells us that you've ran into a problem that Exempt aims to solve. You're in a store, you want to buy something and you utter those familiar words, "How
much will customs charge me on this?" You are then stuck asking yourself if you should buy it or if you should wait until you get back home. Maybe you're that traveler in the store always wondering "Whats the duty on that again?" You might also be that traveler that went a little overboard on the shopping budget and is stressing over whether you have enough money for your customs duty fees or if you still have an exemption available, should you claim it and if it will cover the duty amount. Well I can say all of us at Exempt, being the frequent travelers that we are, have exeperienced one of these scenarios and in some cases, even worst. Like actually showing up to customs without enough money and no Exemptions left to claim and you know how much fun that can be! So we decided to funnel our frustration into a need and fill that need. In doing so, we realized that figuring out what one has to pay at the Customs counter shouldn't be like rocket science or a guessing game and we created an App to do the heavy lifting and calculations for you.
