On March 25th, RISE will be hosting a Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) event honoring the late, local Cherokee Native Aubrey Dameron, who had been missing since March 2019. Special guest speakers include Jonathan Jacobs with the Lantern Project and family member of the late Aubrey Dameron.

For Saint Patrick's Day next Monday, March 17th, the Adawe Community Center is hosting an Irish-inspired menu with Irish Beef Stew!

The Title VI Program provides free lunches 5 days a week 11:30am – 1:00pm to all Tribal Native American people 55 years of age or older, and spouses are included.

Austin Robertson and Shannon Flaherty, owners of Austin and Shannon's Microgreens, hosted a class this last Tuesday at the Peoria Tribe HHS building educating attendees on the flexibility and wide range of uses that microgreens possess. Rich in minerals and nutrients, these baby forms of produce make a great addition to nearly any meal and have been a huge hit with recipients of the Peoria Fresh Program.

Afterwards, attendees of the class enjoyed a light lunch consisting of bison sliders, red pepper & tomato soup, chicken sandwiches, and yogurt parfait paired with a selection of microgreens.

Local tribes, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, judges, and the DAs office had the opportunity to participate in a Victims Roundtable Compensation Training hosted by the Peoria Tribe Shield Program this last Monday.

The goal of the roundtable was to facilitate open communication, coordination, and collaboration in our effort to provide comprehensive services to victims of crime in our communities.

During the month of "Dressember", the Peoria Tribe Health and Human Services's Peoria Shield Program, which works to prevent Domestic Violence Support, encouraged team members across departments to dress up every Friday to raise awareness of human trafficking and its terrible effects.

Once more, with feeling! The Peoria Tribe Team is dressed up for one last Dressember!

What is Dressember you might ask? It is a social movement where justice advocates from all over the world wear a dress or tie (or simply dress up!) to raise awareness to combat human trafficking. It's rooted in the belief that all people deserve to be free.
