MDCPS Department of Food and Nutrition America’s 3rd largest food service program dedicated to promoting excellence in food and nutrition to advance community health and wellness initiatives.

The Department of Food and Nutrition for Miami-Dade County Public Schools is America’s fourth largest food service program serving a diverse population of students healthy breakfast, lunch and after school care meals in over 350 schools, including elementary, k-8 centers, middle, senior high schools and alternative, specialized centers. All meal service adheres to the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Ac

t and School Board Wellness Policies. Free breakfast is served at all schools for all M-DCPS students. Lunch entrees are planned to reflect the variety of cultures and flavors of Miami, always incorporating fresh fruits, vegetables and salads for selection. Afterschool meals are offered at over 200 schools offering students healthy nourishment before departing or home. The Department of Food and Nutrition technology offers the community an online meal account and tracking system for parents to manage their child’s purchases, nutrition information and conveniently pay online. Household adults are also able to apply for meal benefits online for a fast and convenient process. The Department of Food and Nutrition partners with agencies like Common Threads, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Fuel up to Play en Español, Healthy West Kendall, etc.

Congratulations to Joella C. Good Elementary, Palmetto Middle, Palmetto Senior, and Hubert O. Sibley Elementary for being selected to participate in the compost pilot program this school year. A big thank you to M-DCPS Sustainability Office and Fertile Earth 🪴🪱💚🌎 for training our food service teams on how to compost and thank you to the administrators for helping us reduce food waste and make a positive impact on our school campuses. 🌎💚

It has been an honor serving M-DCPS students. This year, we proudly provided more than 37 million meals to help fuel student success.
And we're not done yet! ☀️ Summer meals begin June 8. Breakfast and lunch will be available at 170 schools through July 31 to help keep children healthy and nourished all summer long.
