If you have a credit card in your own name. A paycheck deposited into an account you control. A mortgage without a husband’s signature. A law degree. A medical degree. A seat in the boardroom. A name on the ballot. A place on the playing field. A career after having children.
If none of that strikes you as remarkable, that may be the point.
There was a time when much of it was.
