Today, the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department proudly celebrated the groundbreaking of our future headquarters and centralized intake and release facility — a transformational project that will modernize operations, enhance efficiency, and support our staff and community for generations to come.

This state-of-the-art development marks the beginning of a new era for and reflects Miami-Dade County’s continued investment in public safety, innovation, and infrastructure.

Bigs and Littles from took a wild approach to learning at this month’s site visit, which took them to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Nature Center at Crandon Park! Students learned about the unique environment surrounding Biscayne Bay and the wildlife that makes it so special.

This visit also marked the final site visit for our graduating seniors. We wish them all the best as they begin their next chapter!

May is Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month, and this month our department proudly stands alongside one of our own as he raises awareness for a cause that hits close to home.

After his son was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), Officer Silvio Aviles Jr. chose to share his family’s journey to help others understand the condition that affects thousands of families every day. Through courage, advocacy, and openness, he hopes to educate the community and support those affected by NF1.

We’re proud to support Officer Aviles as he shares his family’s story and continues making a difference beyond the badge.
