The Bahamas Consulate General in Miami participated in the 20th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Research and Educational Symposium hosted by the Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
As part of the engagement, Consul General Tyson K. McKenzie toured the Foundation, which has expressed an interest in establishing a presence in The Bahamas and supporting Bahamian warriors living with sickle cell disease. The visit also included discussions with Dr. Gershwin Blyden, a distinguished Bahamian physician and internationally respected sickle cell disease specialist, who is being honoured through the naming of a suite at the Foundation.
The engagement forms part of the Consulate’s ongoing healthcare diplomacy efforts and commitment to building partnerships that benefit Bahamians.
