World Su***de Prevention Day | 10 September

Today, the Consulate General of The Bahamas in Miami reminds every member of our Bahamian diaspora that your life has value, your presence matters, and your story is worth continuing.

In difficult moments, remember the people who love you, the lives you have touched, the possibilities still ahead, and the brighter days that may be waiting beyond what you can see today.

Check on your family. Check on your friends. Choose kindness, speak life into one another, and never be afraid to reach out for help when the weight becomes too heavy to carry alone.

To our Bahamian diaspora: we see you, we value you, and even your Consulate is grateful that you are here.

Your life matters. Stay. There is more ahead. 🇧🇸

As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of International Literacy Day under the theme, “Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity,” we encourage Bahamian students and our wider diaspora to embrace reading as a pathway to knowledge, opportunity, and lifelong learning.

This year, we challenge you to read a Bahamian book, explore our folklore, or discover the work of a Bahamian author - because within our literature are the voices, experiences, and stories that help define who we are as a unique, peaceful, and thriving people.

Read Bahamian. Celebrate Our Heritage. Embrace Learning.
