Krueger Middle School Mission Statement:
Krueger is a safe school built on supportive relationships with students, staff, and families.

We value academic growth and achievement while developing the MCAS Habits of Character in a collaborative educational learning community. Social Media Community Standards:

History came to life at Krueger Middle School 🧭

Fourth graders from Knapp Elementary School, Marsh Elementary School, and Family and friends of Springfield School explored the past during our recent Living History days.

Krueger students led hands-on stations featuring Indiana pioneer life, composting, Native American housing styles, the Underground Railroad, pioneer toys and games, and candle making! 🕯️

🏡 Prep College and Careers Guest Speaker Spotlight! 🏡

Today in Mr. Labis’s Prep College and Careers class at Martin T. Krueger Middle School, we had the pleasure of welcoming Krueger alumna and Michigan City High School graduate Erica Miller!

Erica is a lifelong LaPorte County resident and an experienced real estate agent with , bringing more than 10 years of experience in the real estate industry. She shared her commitment to delivering results while making sure every client feels valued, informed, and supported throughout the home-buying and selling process.

📚 Erica brought handouts to help our students learn important real estate vocabulary, including mortgages, down payments, appraisals, negotiations, home inspections, and home equity. These are valuable terms that students can use as they learn about homeownership, financial literacy, and planning for their future!

💼 Erica also discussed the skills needed to succeed as a real estate agent and entrepreneur, including communication, organization, problem-solving, negotiation, building relationships, and providing excellent customer service. Students learned that a career in real estate involves much more than selling homes — it takes dedication, knowledge, hard work, and the ability to build trust with clients.

A big thank-you to Erica for taking the time to return to Krueger and share her knowledge, experience, and career journey with our students! It is always great to see former Krueger graduates returning to inspire the next generation!

🦓🦊 Prep College and Careers Guest Speaker Spotlight! 🐾🎓

Today in Mr. Labis’s Prep College and Careers class at Martin T. Krueger Middle School, our students had the exciting opportunity to welcome Jessica Hart, a Zookeeper and Education Keeper at Washington Park Zoo! 🐒

Jessica introduced our students to the exciting world of animal care and the many career opportunities available at a zoo. Students learned about the important work zookeepers do to keep animals healthy and safe, as well as the different career paths available for people interested in wildlife, animal care, and education.

Jessica explained that although the zoo isn’t open 365 days a year, the animals receive care every single day from the dedicated team of five full-time zookeepers! She also shared that Washington Park Zoo is owned by the City of Michigan City, making its employees city employees who receive city benefits.

Jessica cares for a variety of amazing animals, including zebras, muntjac deer, fallow deer, wallabies, emus, and Arctic foxes! 🦓🦊 She is a graduate of Vincennes University and Ball State University, showing our students how education can help open doors to exciting career opportunities.

🌟 And now for the highlight of the day… MEETING MIA THE ARMADILLO! 🌟

Mia made a special appearance, giving our students the opportunity to get up close, pet her, and learn about her habitat and how she is cared for at the zoo. What an unforgettable, hands-on learning experience! ❤️

We were also excited to have Principal Rolling join us for the presentation. Principal Rolling even got the chance to pet Mia!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Jessica Hart, Mia, and the Washington Park Zoo for bringing the zoo to Martin T. Krueger Middle School today! Our students had a fantastic opportunity to explore animal-related careers and discover how a passion for animals can turn into a future profession.

Who knows? We may have some future zookeepers, veterinarians, wildlife biologists, or animal educators sitting in Mr. Labis’s classroom right now! 🐾🌎

🚌 It’s National School Bus Safety Week! Follow along as we spotlight members of our MCAS Transportation team and share tips to help keep students safe.

🏫 It’s also America’s Safe Schools Week. Thank you to our staff, students, and families for helping make our schools safe and welcoming places to learn.

🧡 Wednesday, October 21 is Unity Day! Join us in celebrating kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

📝 Our final Community Meeting about the proposed operating referendum is Thursday, October 22 at Krueger Middle School at 6:00 p.m. Come learn more and ask questions. Visit EducateMC.net/MCAS for information.

🎗️ Red Ribbon Week begins Friday, October 23! Schools will create banners for the occasion. This year’s theme is “Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.”

What a night to remember! 💖🏐

Last night’s final game of the Girls Volleyball season — and 8th Grade Night — was filled with heart, hustle, and community spirit. Our gym sparkled in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness as both the 7th and 8th grade teams battled hard against our cross-town rivals, Barker. Though both matches were extremely close and didn’t go our way, the effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship on display were incredible.

Huge thanks to everyone who turned out to cheer — your energy made the night special for our players and families. Special shoutout to our "seniors" on 8th Grade Night: we’re proud of you! 🎉
