What keeps attendees coming back to the Red Shield Symposium year after year?

Ryan Thomas says it best:
"The Red Shield Symposium has been a go-to continuing education event for me for many years because the materials and presenters are engaging and enlightening; the location is convenient and cozy; and the amazing Salvation Army personnel spoil us with kindness, a delicious meal, and tasty snacks. It is a fun day in which I get to see many other esteemed colleagues in our community while receiving quality continuing education."

Our Weekend Backpack Feeding Program has kicked off for the 2026/2027 school year. This program provides weekend meals to 450+ food insecure children at Michigan City Area Schools every week through the school year.

THANK YOU to this amazing group of volunteers that make it happen - along with our friend at Sodexo, and funds provided by Health Foundation of La Porte, Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation, Duneland Health Council, Horizon Bank, GAF - Roofing, United Way of La Porte County, Unity Foundation of La Porte County, and generous donors in our community.

Many local gardeners are blessed with more produce than they can use this time of year. Instead of letting those extra fruits and vegetables go to waste, consider donating them to The Salvation Army Food Pantry.

Fresh produce is one of the most requested and appreciated items by the families we serve. Your surplus harvest can help a local family stretch their grocery budget a little further.

Donations are accepted at 1201 S. Franklin Street, Monday through Thursday from 9am to 3pm.
