The East Greenwich Township Office of Emergency Management deeply mourns the passing of long-time volunteer, retired Gloucester County Sheriff, and former Gloucester County Emergency Management Coordinator, Chuck Gill.
Chuck’s life was defined by an unwavering dedication to public safety and the community he loved.
For decades, he was a pillar of leadership in Gloucester County, guiding our region through emergencies and protecting its residents with steady resolve and a true servant's heart.
Upon retiring from his distinguished career in law enforcement and county leadership, Chuck never stopped giving back.
He brought his vast experience, wisdom, and passion for helping others directly to our local neighborhood by serving on the East Greenwich Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Whether he was directing traffic in the early morning cold for the annual Turkey Trot or ensuring our community stayed safe during the festive Christmas Tree Lighting, or deploying at a moment's notice to assist our first responders during local emergencies, Chuck was always the first to step up. He didn't just manage public safety; he lived it, leaving a legacy of kindness, professionalism, and selflessness that inspired everyone who had the honor of working alongside him.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Gill family, his loved ones, and the countless colleagues across Gloucester County who feel this profound loss.
Rest easy, Sheriff. We have the watch from here.
