A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported BQVFD at Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard yesterday! 🍦🚒

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community. Every visit, every purchase, and every conversation helps strengthen the connection between our volunteers and the neighbors we proudly serve.

A special shout-out goes to Captain Linkowich, who traded his fire helmet for an ice cream scoop and spent some of the evening serving up treats to our supporters! 🍨👏

Thank you to Rita’s for hosting us and to everyone who stopped by to show their support. We couldn’t do what we do without this amazing community behind us. ❤️

A happy ending for this little crew! 🦆💛
Today, our volunteers responded after several baby ducks became trapped in a storm drain. Thanks to quick action from community members and our dedicated responders, the ducklings were safely rescued and reunited with their mama.
A special thank you to Baltimore County Councilman David Marks for reaching out immediately and letting us know help was needed. This is a perfect example of our community looking out for one another even the smallest members of it.
Great teamwork by everyone involved, and we’re grateful for the support and care our community continues to show every day. 🚒

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten. As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day and remember those who gave everything for our freedom.

From all of us at BQVFD, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward. 🇺🇸

đźš‘ Station 21 EMS Transport Initiative Update đźš‘

In addition to our ongoing apparatus updates we felt there was no better time to share our EMS update than EMS week. For years, our community has made one thing abundantly clear: Bowleys Quarters deserves reliable, consistent, and advanced emergency medical transport services within our own community.

At Station 21, we hear that call and we are acting on it.

Over the past year, we have been actively developing a comprehensive EMS transport strategy designed to bring not just one, but two ambulances into our operational future. This has not been a rushed concept or surface-level discussion. Significant planning has already taken place to ensure this program is built strategically, sustainably, and with the long-term needs of our community at the forefront. Both President Daugherty and Chief Macis are working together to bring this program forward.

As part of this next critical phase, we are formally establishing an Ambulance (EMS) Committee to conduct a full administrative and operational review of the program. This committee will help finalize, strengthen, and guide the implementation of our EMS transport model as we prepare for our transition into our new home.

Our vision goes beyond simply adding transport units.

Our goal is to create a unique EMS system tailored specifically to Bowleys Quarters—one that prioritizes:

• Reliable ambulance transport within our community
• Consistent local coverage
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) capabilities
• On-scene intervention and higher-level patient care
• Long-term sustainability and operational excellence

This means building a program that not only provides transport, but ensures our community has access to ALS-level care when it matters most.

Station 21 has always been unique in its mission, particularly through the strength of Marine Emergency Team 21. Our marine division already serves as a critical component of emergency response and medical transport in our region. As part of our broader EMS development plan, we are actively working to ensure our marine assets receive appropriate recognition as ALS-capable transport resources further strengthening our ability to provide comprehensive emergency medical services by both land and water.

This initiative represents more than ambulances.

It represents the long-overdue development, approval, and implementation of the EMS services Bowleys Quarters has needed and deserved for years.

We are building a program designed to meet today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow’s growth.

Our community deserves dependable, advanced emergency medical care. Through strategic planning, administrative development, operational readiness, and community support, Station 21 is committed to delivering exactly that.

This is not just an idea anymore.

This is a plan.
This is progress.
And this is the future of EMS in Bowleys Quarters.

If you are looking to be a part of our team be sure to apply!

🔥LEADERSHIP SPOTLIGHT: EMS LIEUTENANT VICKY CLARK 🔥
As we kick off EMS Week, we’re proud to highlight one of the dedicated leaders who helps keep our EMS division running strong — EMS Lieutenant and Recording Secretary, Vicky Clark!
With 6 years of service at BQVFD, Vicky wears many hats within the department. As an NREMT and EMS Lieutenant, she helps manage EMS supply inventory, checks EMS bags and equipment, supports EMS training, assists with new member skills check-offs, and helps oversee EMS operations. In addition to her EMS responsibilities, she also serves as Recording Secretary, taking minutes during company meetings and assisting with fundraising and wherever else she’s needed around the station.
🚑 Vicky’s passion for helping others started long before joining the fire department. After working in a busy emergency room alongside firefighters and EMS providers, she decided she wanted to step into the fire service herself and give back in a more hands-on way.
❤️ Her favorite part of serving the community is knowing she’s able to help people during some of the hardest moments in their lives while also getting to know members of the community along the way.
👩‍🚒 Over the years, Vicky has also served as VP of Records and EMS Captain, continuing to grow as both a provider and leader within the department.
🍔 Outside of the firehouse, Vicky works as a Sales Administrator for Mann-Pak Inc. She also loves cooking and grilling often making meals for the station and is a huge fan of horror movies. While she doesn’t have children of her own, she proudly says she loves being an auntie to both tiny humans and doggies alike.
đź’¬ Her motto:
“Make the best of everything in life at the end of the day, it is what it is!”
🏠 When asked what BQVFD means to her, Vicky shared:
“My second family. They supported me when I needed it most. I found BQVFD while going through a life-changing event almost 7 years ago and never left. I have gained amazing brothers and sisters.”
As we celebrate EMS Week, we want to recognize not only Vicky, but all of the EMS providers who dedicate their time, knowledge, and compassion to serving others. From training and preparation to responding when people need help most, their commitment does not go unnoticed.
We are incredibly grateful for Vicky’s leadership, dedication, compassion, and the countless ways she helps support our department and community every single day.
👏 Help us thank Lt. Clark for everything she does for BQVFD!

On May 14, 2026, at 12:00 a.m., Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Department will officially place Rescue Squad 213 out of service indefinitely, marking the end of more than five decades of Heavy Rescue operations within our department.
For over 50 years, Rescue Squad 213 responded to some of the most complex and demanding emergencies throughout Eastern Baltimore County and surrounding jurisdictions. The unit proudly served our community and mutual-aid partners during incidents including:

Vehicle entrapments

Technical rescue incidents

Structural collapses

Industrial accidents

Plane crashes

Train derailments

Structure fires

Throughout its history, Rescue Squad 213 earned a respected regional reputation for reliability, professionalism, technical capability, and operational excellence. Generations of volunteer firefighters dedicated countless hours to training, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the unit was prepared to answer the call whenever needed.

Rescue Squad 213 represented far more than an apparatus. It stood as a symbol of commitment, pride, tradition, and service to the citizens of Bowleys Quarters and the surrounding communities. The impact made by the members who served aboard the squad will continue to be felt for years to come through the lives touched, the emergencies mitigated, and the firefighters who carried forward its proud legacy.

As our community and operational responsibilities continue to evolve, the department is preparing to transition into Truck Company operations with the future addition of an aerial apparatus. This transition will expand the services we are able to provide to the community while continuing our commitment to emergency response and public safety.

Truck Company operations will enhance the department’s capabilities through:

Elevated rescue operations

Vertical ventilation operations

Aerial master stream deployment

Expanded ground ladder capabilities

Additional storage and deployment of specialized rescue tools and equipment

Continued support of technical rescue operations within the department’s evolving mission model

This transition reflects the department’s commitment to adapting to the needs of our community while continuing to provide professional and effective emergency services to the citizens of Bowleys Quarters.

While this announcement marks the closing of an important chapter in our department’s history, it also represents the beginning of a new era of service and operational growth. We honor the proud history of Rescue Squad 213 and recognize every member who served aboard it over the last five decades.

On behalf of the officers and members of the Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Department, we thank our community for its continued support and trust.

Thank you, Rescue Squad 213.
