IG will only let me attach 10 photos so I'll have to make two posts for this but swipe to see some cringe photos of me from my bootcamp graduation ๐ŸŽ“ 8yrs ago!! Haha a lot of people are scared of bootcamp but please come talk to me if you are and I'll tell you it's really not that bad. There's no 5mi ruck runs, obstacle courses, or mandatory pull ups lol

I describe bootcamp as "the most fun, you NEVER want to have again" ๐Ÿคฃ but in all seriousness you make some of the best friends and memories at bootcamp, you learn a lot, and it makes you a stronger person! ๐Ÿ’ช

Do you have any questions about bootcamp? Comment below or dm me!

Well folks! The day I've been waiting on for a long time finally arrived!! On April 15th, 2021 I was facetimed by my chain of command who then had me facetime Admiral Bayungan- the Commodore of Region West... the Commodore let me know he selected me as the RESFOR MAP (meritorious advancement) to e-6! I honestly did not think this would be possible as I'm on a weird/new recruiting program that to my command's knowledge, no one had ever been MAP'd on, so that's pretty dang cool! Looks like I might just be the first Definite Recall to be MAP'd in Naval history! I cannot thank my command enough for not giving up on advancing me when it didn't seem possible for my program. Very thankful for this moment! My pinning was the past Monday, thank you to all of my close friends who came to support me ๐Ÿ’—

I chose two very important people to pin me, my significant other Jeremiah, and my Chief

Jeremiah, thank you for standing by me and supporting me through all the late night/early morning medreads, calling me on my late night interviews 3hrs away to make sure I wasn't dead in a ditch or kidnapped, date nights I had to bail on thinking I'd be off by then, constant phone calls with my applicants on weekends/evenings, and I know it's annoying when I try to recruit everytime we go out to eat ๐Ÿ˜… thank you for understanding that my job doesn't ever "turn off".

Heather, thank you for being the best role model I've ever had in the Navy. You are the leader I strive to be like one day. Thank you for noticing when my mental/physical health wasn't doing so well, for taking over a few legal/medical waivers when my plate was over flowing so much I was ripping my hair out (figuratively of course), for guiding me through personal and professional road bumps, for caring for me as a sailor and as a friend. You mean the world to me Chief, you helped mold me into the MA1 I am today. The Navy needs about 5,000 more chiefs like you.

There are so many others I could thank however, the post would never end. You all know who you are ๐Ÿ’™

It feels so good to say, MA1 Lowe ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿš”โš“

Travel to places youโ€™d want to vacation to, get the degree(s) you wanted for free, 30+ days of paid vacation, paid healthcare for you and your family, housing paid for wherever you go, paid relocation, ability to switch careers every two years if so desired, college credit for everything you do while in, security clearance, VA home loan and so, so much more. The part time benefits are amazing too! If youโ€™re even curious about what the Navy/Naval Reserves is about, please reach out to me and Iโ€™ll go over it. The Navy is a lot different from what most people think!

SO SO PROUD of this guy!! From the moment I saw you in your senior year, KILLING it at your drill competition (he was awarded 1st place in solo exhibition) I knew you would be a great addition to the Navy family. GSMFN Buzbee, seeing you now in uniform makes the hard parts of this job all worth it. Thank you so much for coming back to see me and tell me about your journey. Iโ€™m so happy you decided to take a chance and sit down with me to talk about the Navy when it was not at all the path you were planning to take at the time. I canโ€™t WAIT to watch you excel in your career! Keep it up Buzbee- I know you will!

NAVYโ€™S TATTOO POLICY

The Navy has some deep cultural ties to tattooing and has a long-standing tradition of memorializing special memories or career milestones at sea through body ink.

In todayโ€™s day and age, tattoos are increasingly more popular in our culture and in recognizing this growth, the Navy decided to make some changes to the entrance policy for those wanting to serve. Check it out!

๐Ÿ“ฅ DM me if you have any questions on tattoos or any questions in general!

Happy Monday folks!! Set your intentions this week and go crush them! Pro tip: do the things youโ€™re dreading first then move onto your more enjoyable tasks! Also it helps to write out everything that you need to do and cross it off as you go, then you donโ€™t have that lingering feeling that youโ€™re forgetting to do something. You also free up space in your head for clearer thinking and better productivity!

I was recently asked to make a video for the Navy's Instagram channel and my topic was to give 5 tips on how to overcome setbacks.

If you don't already know the story of how I ended up in the Navy, let me share it with you.

I never considered the military throughout high school. I never thought it would be up my alley so I never gave the recruiters in my school the time of day. I had my sights set on attending a D-1 college, getting a degree in elementary education, and making the cheer team wherever I went.

I was in gymnastics/cheerleading almost all of my life and was found 2x a week practicing with the KU cheer team on the nights I wasn't at Varsity cheer practice or my competitive league outside of school. I ended up landing a scholarship to K-State University for cheerleading and was over the moon ๐ŸŒ™ about it. I had tunnel vision. I put all of my eggs in one basket.

A month before tryouts I was landing a tumbling pass and accidentally landed straight legged. My left knee went straight backwards...I partially tore my ACL, MCL, and meniscus due to the tumbling accident.

P**F.

There went my scholarship, my plan, my dream.

It was a huge setback for me. I knew I didn't want to start life out with 6 figures in debt and a piece of paper that doesn't even guarantee me a job. So my best friend took me into the Navy office to talk about the Naval Reserves so I could get some extra money for college.

I went in and listened to active duty and the reserves and ended up deciding active duty was the route for me.

Fast forward 7yrs I've: bought a $325k home at 24yrs old, earned a degree completely paid for by the Navy and working on a second, lived in Naples Italy, Key West FL, San Diego CA, and Colorado Springs CO, met the love of my life in the Navy, made some of the best friends of my life, seen/experienced things people only dream of, and not to mention I was able to serve my country and do my part in the World's Greatest Navy.

So why you may not understand in the moment, a setback might actually be a set up for you to do something greater.

Hope these tips can help you!

This girl has officially taken 26 trips around the sun! ๐ŸŒžI had a four day weekend to celebrate my birthday which was Nov. 14th and was pleasantly surprised to be taken on a trip to Estes Park to a spa cabin in the woods! He surprised me with roses and chocolates in the room as well!
