The Tyler County Assessor's Office, along with the other courthouse offices, will be closing at Noon on Good Friday, April 3rd, 2026 pursuant to the Governor's Proclamation declaring the half day holiday.

The Tyler County Assessor's Office would like to notify the residents of Tyler County that our Data Collectors, Johnathan Lancaster and Ryley Warner, will be out in the field visiting properties in Friendly, Sistersville, Paden City & Middlebourne starting today, Wednesday, April 1st, 2026. They will be visiting all properties in the county as mandated by WV Legislature and is done in accordance with the Three Year Cycle of the Valuation Plan as set by WV Code. Johnathon and Ryley will be knocking on doors and when permitted will be asking questions about any changes made to properties. Our Data Collectors will NOT enter into any home/residence. If a property owner is not at home and there are questions that Johnathan and Ryley have about the property, they will leave an informational sheet requesting the property owner/resident call our office and give our office the information needed so we will have the correct and most up to date information on the property as possible. As the weather permits, they will be starting out in the field in Friendly Corp.
FYI: The Assessor's Office vehicle is a White Jeep Grand Cherokee and is clearly labled on the sides as well as the back window as a Tyler County Assessor's Office vehicle.
We appreciate your cooperation when Johnathan and Ryley are in your neighborhood asking for updated information on your properties or with the returning of any needed information in theh event of noone being at home during the time of their visit. At this time, our office is temporarily located in front of the Tyler County Senior Center in the Courthouse Compound. We are in Trailer 2, along with the County Clerk's Office which is in Trailer 1 and the Sheriff's Tax Office is in Trailer 3.

The Tyler County Assessor's Office will be closing today, Monday, May 19th at 2:30 pm.
Our office staff will be attending the 2025 WV TAX COMMISSIONER'S ANNUAL IN-SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM from Tuesday, May 20th, thru Thursday, May 22nd.
Our office will re-open at 8am on Friday, May 23rd.
The Tax Commissioner's Training Sessions are vital to us to attend each year in order that we can continue to be as informed as possible with any new and updated information so that we can continue to do our jobs as mandated by state code.
This In-Service Training Program set up by the state Tax Commissioner and the State Tax Division, Property Tax, focuses on various topics that are related to the work of all State Assessors as well as their Staff.

Good afternoon.
The Assessor's Office will be closing today, Monday, May 20th, at 2pm.
Our office staff will be attending the WV State Tax Department's Annual In-Service Training Program Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday in Morgantown. We will be back in the office at 8am on Friday, May 24th.
These trainings are very important for us to attend in order that we are able to learn the updates needed so we can be as informed and as knowledgeable as possible and we can continue to do our jobs as mandated by state code.
The In-Service Training Program is set by the State Tax Commissioner and the topics are related to the work of the Assessor and of their staff.

We would like to notify the residents of Tyler County that our Data Collectors, Johnathan Lancaster and Ryley Warner, are starting out in the field visiting properties in Ellsworth, Centerville & Meade Districts as mandated by WV Legislature. Visiting all properties in the county is done in accordance with the Three Year cycle of the Valuation Plan as set by WV Code. Johnathon and Ryley will be knocking on doors, when permitted and asking questions about any changes made to the properties. They will NOT enter into any home/residence. If a property owner is not at home and there are questions that they have about the property, they will leave an informational sheet asking that you call our office at your very earliest convenience to give the information needed in order that we have correct and up to date information on your property. As the weather permits, they will start out in the field in Ellsworth District.
FYI: The Assessor's Office vehicle is a Maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee and is marked on both sides of the vehicle.
We appreciate your cooperation when Johnathan and Ryley are asking for any updated information on your properties or with the returning of any requested or needed information.

A Winter storm warning with snow already here and what’s expected throughout the day, the Governor’s State of Emergency, the Judicial Closing of The Circuit Clerk’s Office & hard to keep up with road conditions, it has been decided that for the safety of our staff & the public, the Assessor’s Office and the rest of the Tyler County Courthouse will be closed today.
We will be open bright and early at 8am Monday morning. Thank you for your understanding.
