Why Ohio Should Send Jon Husted to the Senate, and Sherrod Brown Home for Good

Ohio voters have a clear choice in the 2026 U.S. Senate race between Jon Husted and Sherrod Brown. Their records represent two very different approaches to taxes, spending, small business, health care and the role of government.
Every election season the same glossy graphics show up in our feeds telling us Sherrod Brown is fighting for the working man. It is a nice story. The problem is that the story is more than thirty years old, and the ending never changes. So, before anyone votes, let us do something the campaign ads never do. Let us look at the record instead of the slogans.

Thirty Years in Washington Is Not a Resume, It Is a Warning

SHERROD BROWN’S ECONOMIC RECORD
Sherrod Brown has been in Washington since 1993. That is the House and the Senate combined, more than three decades on the taxpayer payroll. Think about that. When people say we need someone who will fight for Ohio, they are describing a job Brown has already had for over thirty years. If three decades in Congress were going to fix Ohio, it would be fixed by now.
Sherrod Brown supported major Democratic spending bills and much of the administration’s broader economic direction while Ohio families watched the prices of groceries, gasoline, housing, vehicles, utilities and everyday household goods climb dramatically. He backed the policies being pursued while inflation became one of the biggest economic problems facing working families. After decades in Washington, Brown cannot separate himself from the results of the agenda he repeatedly supported.
At the same time, Ohio communities watched manufacturing jobs disappear, small towns struggle and the cost of living rise. Brown spent more than thirty years in Washington, so at some point a career politician has to own the record he built. You do not get to spend decades in power and then campaign as though you are the outsider coming in to fix the system. Brown is not the change candidate. His long Washington record is exactly what Ohio voters should be examining when they decide whether it is time for a different direction.
They Caused the Affordability Crisis, Now They Want to Run on It

Here is the part the Democrats are counting on you to forget. The affordability crisis they now cry about a fire they started. They shoved trillions of dollars in new spending out the door, and Sherrod Brown voted for it. When you flood the economy with money you do not have, prices go up. Economists warned about it, it happened exactly as predicted, and working families and retirees on fixed incomes got hit the hardest.
Now the same people who caused it are running around town telling you they are the ones who will fix it. That takes nerve. You do not get to light the fire and then campaign as the fire department. Every time Sherrod Brown talks about the cost of living, remember he voted for the spending that drove it up in the first place.
And here is what they will never tell you, because the numbers are turning against their story. Some price increases are normal in any economy. Prices creep up a little every year. That is not a crisis, that is just how a growing economy works. The real question is whether prices are rising faster than inflation or slower. Right now inflation has cooled to about 3.4 percent, and the core rate, which strips out the noise, is down around 2.5 percent and still falling. Most everyday goods have risen less than that, meaning in real terms they are getting more affordable, not less.
The one glaring exception is fuel, and that is not the result of anything Washington did at home. That spike came from a foreign energy shock tied to the war with Iran, and even that has started easing as the crisis cools. In other words, the things our own policies control are coming back under control, and the one thing that jumped came from a war halfway around the world. That is the opposite of the story the Democrats are trying to sell you.
So do not let the party that caused the affordability crisis convince you they are the cure. They are the disease.

The Truth About Those Medicare and Medicaid Ads

You have probably seen the scary ads claiming Jon Husted wants to cut your Medicare and Medicaid. It is one of the oldest tricks in the book, and it is misleading on purpose.
Here is what actually happened. The vote was never about stripping benefits from seniors, children, or people with disabilities. It was about reining in the runaway cost of the Obamacare expansion, which has grown far more expensive than promised, and about adding common sense work requirements for able bodied adults who can work. Asking a healthy working age adult to work, volunteer, or train in order to receive benefits is not a cut. It is the same thing most Ohioans already do every single day.
Protecting a program actually means keeping it solvent so it is still there for the people who truly depend on it. Pretending that every attempt to control costs is an attack on grandma is how Washington scares seniors into voting out of fear instead of facts. Do not fall for it. The people who refuse to control spending are the ones who put these programs at risk in the long run.

What Jon Husted Actually Delivers

While Brown offers thirty year old promises, Husted supports policies that put money back in your pocket right now.
No federal tax on tips, so the waitress and the bartender keep what they earn. No federal tax on overtime, so the worker who puts in the extra hours actually gets to keep that check. Real tax relief for seniors, so the people who spent a lifetime paying in are not taxed again on their Social Security. Lower taxes across the board, lighter regulation so Ohio businesses can grow and hire here at home, and a focus on affordable, reliable energy instead of expensive mandates that drive your utility bill up.
That is the difference between talking about the working class and actually leaving more money in their hands.

Ohio First Versus Washington First

This is the heart of it. For over thirty years Sherrod Brown has voted with his party leadership again and again. Not what Ohio wanted. What Washington wanted. Ohio already saw through it once and sent him packing in 2024, and now he is back asking for the same seat like nothing happened.
Jon Husted answers to Ohio. He is focused on jobs, lower costs, safer communities, and getting government out of the way so families and businesses can thrive. He represents where this state is going, not where it has been stuck.

The Bottom Line

Do not vote for the graphic. Vote for the record. One of these men has been in Washington since 1993 and gave us higher prices and broken promises. The other wants to lower your taxes, protect your paycheck, and put Ohio first.
Ohio sent Sherrod Brown home once already. Let us make it permanent. Vote Jon Husted

Thursday night the Middleburg Hts GOP participated in our great cities annual Summer in the City opening parade. We invited candidates to walk with us. One candidate not only was in the parade with us but she offered us her family’s restored fire truck for the parade. Candidate for Cuyahoga County Judge, Morgan Caruso, came through for us. So Uncle Sam rode in the fire truck instead what we had planned. Thank you Morgan and thank your wonderful family.
