The Interior Firefighting Operations/SCBA – Firefighter 1 course finished up on Saturday May 16. Students completed 50 hours of training. Before taking this course, students had to complete the BEFO (Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations) course which is 79 hours. These courses are held two evenings a week and some Saturdays. We thank and congratulate the graduates.
The curriculum is developed and delivered by NYS DHSES Office of Fire Prevention and Control Fire Instructors. Schoharie County’s instructors are all local fire service veterans.
Supporting the hands on portions of the course held at the Schoharie County Fire Training Center were Schoharie County Office of Emergency Services EMS branch, as well as all of the fire departments who had students in the class and Central Bridge Fire Department who stepped up even though they had no students in the class. Departments provide their apparatus at each evolution.
A & M Towing and Recovery graciously provided the vehicles to burn for the vehicle fire evolution, as they have for many years.

Today we would like to recognize firefighter Tim James for successfully completing his Interior Firefighter Operations, IFO for short, course. Congratulations Tim and thank you for your time and dedication!

Today the Huntersland Fire Department took delivery of our new 9041. This new tanker holds 3000 gal. of water and has a 750 gpm PTO pump with pump and roll capability. We cannot thank OSCO truck of Illinois enough for all their help and work on this beauty. More to come and as it makes its appearances in the area.

Tonight we took training on the road and headed over to the Schoharie Fire Department to complete our annual bailout refresher. We were able to purchase all new bailout kits thanks to last year's NYPA grant for all our interior firefighters. Thank you so much to SFD for opening your house to us and your hospitality. The pizza was a nice surprise. Thank you to Andrew Tator for taking some personal time to assist as well. We keep training to keep prepared.

Tonight the Huntersland Fire Department celebrated another year of service to the town of Middleburgh and our surrounding communities. We thank everyone who came out to enjoy a fantastic meal (thanks again Shane)and a good time. We thank our esteemed guests and the members of our department.
