Latest Update from NIPSCO - All available crews and resources continue working around the clock to safely assess damage and make repairs as quickly as possible. Damage across northern Indiana from the storm includes more than 100 downed poles and 15 transmission towers, along with structural impacts to critical infrastructure. Based on the extent of damage, crews are working toward restoring approximately 90% to 95% of customers by Tuesday, June 16th at 6 p.m.
The recent stretch of unpredictable and intense storms that occurred on Wednesday, June 10 and Thursday, June 11, including strong winds, heavy rain and multiple reported tornadoes, has caused significant and widespread damage. Currently, more than 47,300 customers remain without power, down from 86,640 outages following Thursday’s storm. The hardest hit areas include Hobart, Merrillville, Chesterton, Goshen, Portage and Middlebury.
