Middlebury Moment - Evelyn Dye

Senior Evelyn Dye was chosen as 1 of 50 participants in a pool of over 200 applicants to participate in the Molecular Medicine in Action symposium for Pediatric Research in Indianapolis. The symposium took place on March 1st and 2nd and provided learning experiences that allowed participants to delve further into the research realm of the medical field.
Participants experienced learning about goals and methodologies applied when investigating the molecular, cellular, and genetic mechanisms that contribute to diseases. Evelyn said, “This experience was amazing. It was wonderful to be able to speak to people in the profession I want to go into. Having this up-close experience solidified my passion for research and all the knowledge that can come from it. I was able to work in an actual lab with scientists and do everything from making a karyotype to removing peripheral nerves from a rat to seeing if the rat had a tumor. I learned so much over the course of two days, and I am forever grateful for this experience.”
Evelyn plans to attend Michigan State University and study pre-Health and Human Biology.
Teacher Nancy Hannah nominated Evelyn for this recognition and shared how proud she is of Evelyn as a student, researcher, and wonderful young lady.
Evelyn- we are so proud of you!

One of our favorite events on the last day of school is the senior parade. Senior students go back to their elementary school to walk through the building as the K-3 students cheer for them. This is a great "full-circle" moment and an inspiration to our younger students. Congratulations to the class of 2026!

We want to thank the Middlebury Fire Department for helping make the end of the year memorable for our students. They have been to several K-3 buildings this week to serve food and have fun with the kids. Yesterday, they were at Orchard View Elementary School spraying water from a fire truck while students played at recess. Our students loved it. Thank you!!

Ms. Mathew’s 2nd-grade class at York Elementary School took learning to the great outdoors last week—without ever leaving the room!

Her classroom was completely transformed into a fun, interactive campground. Here’s what the adventure looked like:

Personal Tents: Every student's desk was turned into their very own cozy tent!

Camp Circle: The "campsites" were arranged in a big circle around the room.

New Connections: Students got to interact and learn with each other in a totally new, exciting way.

We love seeing such creative learning environments. ⛺
