Thank you, Addison County! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš‘

Our Round-Up and Yeti Cooler Fundraiser wrapped up on October 1, and weโ€™re blown away by your generosity. Together, we raised $7,066.90 to support Middlebury Regional EMS!

This yearโ€™s fundraiser will help us purchase Binder Lifts โ€” specialized patient-lifting devices that make it safer for both our patients and providers during emergency calls.

A huge thank-you to Aubuchon Hardware for hosting this fundraiser and to everyone who rounded up, bought raffle tickets, or helped spread the word. Your support directly strengthens local emergency services and community education programs.

Congratulations to Walter, the lucky winner of the Yeti cooler! ๐ŸŽ‰ And a special shoutout to EMT Mike Magluilo for pulling the winning ticket.

Weโ€™re proud to serve such a generous and supportive community โ€” thank you for standing behind your local first responders. ๐Ÿ’š

From stabilizing a vehicle to cutting through steel, these drills keep our crews sharp and ready for any call. Weโ€™re grateful to Vergennes Fire for their partnership and commitment to keeping Addison County safe.

๐Ÿš‘ Strengthening Emergency Preparedness in Addison County

Weโ€™re proud to share that Middlebury Regional EMS has been selected to house one of Vermontโ€™s new Cyanokits โ€” a powerful, hospital-grade medication used in cases of cyanide poisoning.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Cyanide poisoning can result from smoke inhalation during fires or certain industrial exposures. The Cyanokit works by binding to cyanide in the bloodstream, allowing the body to safely remove it. In the right situation, it can mean the difference between life and death.

๐Ÿ’ก These kits are rarely available outside of hospitals because of their high cost. Until recently, the Williston Fire Department was the only EMS agency in Vermont to carry one. Now, thanks to a statewide initiative led by the Vermont Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Coalition and Vermont Emergency Medical Services, eight kits have been distributed โ€” including here in Addison County at MREMS.

This represents a major step forward for rural EMS systems, ensuring that communities like ours have access to lifesaving interventions when every second counts.

๐Ÿš‘ Big news for Addison County!

The Patricia A Hannaford Career Center has launched a brand-new Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program โ€” and weโ€™re proud to support it alongside The University of Vermont Health Network- Porter Medical Center.

Hereโ€™s Kate Rothwell (Executive Director) and Walker Randall (Deputy Director) of Middlebury Regional EMS with PHCC students, standing right in front of our ambulance ๐Ÿš‘ โ€” the very place where future responders will learn and practice their skills.
