From Clay to Bronze--- How Middlebury's Monument Is Being Made

We are lucky to have renowned artist, Tony Falcone and the Middlebury Historical Society's vision creating this monument.... It’s not just art. It’s engineering. It’s craftsmanship.
It’s our legacy. Please donate what you can as the casting is beginning in mid- May so stay tuned. To donate https://www.middleburyhistoricalsociety.org/join-us/

A Monument Is Coming to Middlebury
The Middlebury Historical Society has commissioned a bronze monument, created by nationally known artist Tony Falcone honoring a French soldier who camped in Middlebury with General Rochambeau’s army during the Revolutionary War. This sculpture will commemorate the crucial role French forces played in securing American independence — and celebrate Middlebury’s place in that historic story. History lives here. 🚩 Did You Know? Middlebury Helped Change History! 🚩
In 1781, General Rochambeau and his troops made a legendary trek—stopping right here at Breakneck Hill in Middlebury—on their way to join Washington. Together, they changed the course of the American Revolution at Yorktown! 🇺🇸✨
Now, we’re honoring that pivotal moment with a stunning monument by renowned sculptor Tony Falcone. Picture this: two versions of a heroic soldier taking shape in Tony’s studio—one you can lift, and one nearly life-sized! Soon, skilled artisans will use the centuries-old lost-wax method to cast this masterpiece in bronze, ensuring Middlebury’s legacy lives on for generations. Your support makes history!
Every donation brings us closer to unveiling this monument on June 27, 2026, right here at Meadowview Park—marking the 245th anniversary of the encampment.
All donors will be recognized with gratitude. Gifts of $1,000+ honored on a permanent plaque at the site. Want to be part of this legacy?
