On 06-10-2026 Officer James Taulbee began an investigation after receiving information from an outside organization of an individual identified as Christopher Dylan Sparks messaging decoy account that he thought to have been a 14 Year old female.

It was determined through investigation that enough credible evidence was obtained and Christopher was arrested for the following charge.

On 06-06-2026 Officer James Taulbee began an investigation after receiving information from an outside organization of individual identified as Joshua T Wakin messaging a decoy account. The male was messaging what he thought to have been a 15 Year old female.

After further investigation it was determined that there was enough credible evidence to obtained a warrant for the arrest of Joshua Wakin for the following charge.

On 06-12-2026 Officers received call of Burglary in progress being viewed on camera by victim at the MARS Warehouse on N 19th street.

The caller stated that the individuals came in through the back of their property by cutting the fence to gain entry. SGT Caleb Ayers and Officer TJ Patterson proceeded to block main entrance while Officer James Taulbee made entry from coal yard close to Ball Cemetery.

While proceeding toward the property Officer Taulbee was able to locate a male subject behind the facility. The male subject fled on foot once Officer Taulbee announced his presence which lead to a foot pursuit with subject. The subject was able to momentarily elude Officer Taulbee but was later located by SGT Ayers. Officer Taulbee positively identified the male as being the one that had previously fled from him. Officers located at the scene an abandoned Blue Ford Ranger with numerous tools in back seat believed to have been used to gain entry into the facility. Also located in the vehicle was several identification cards to other believed to be suspects who also fled. After obtaining video surveillance the other suspect was positively identified.

Shawn D Hatfield of Middlesboro was arrested 6-12-26 for the following:

*Burg 3rd degree

*Criminal Trespassing -2nd degree

*Poss of Burglary tools

*Fleeing or evading police on foot

*2 outstanding bench warrants

Sonnie B Hall of Middlesboro was arrested on 6-16-26 for the following:

Burg 3rd degree

Criminal Tresspassing -2nd degree

Poss of Burglary tools

🚔 Middlesboro Police Department Drug Arrest 🚔

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, following a thorough drug trafficking investigation conducted by Officer Gabe Price, officers with the Middlesboro Police Department executed a search warrant on Exeter Avenue.

As a result of the search, officers seized approximately 26 grams of suspected methamphetamine, more than 40 gabapentin tablets, four buprenorphine tablets, and drug paraphernalia, including scales and packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Christy Turnbill was arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center on the following charges:

• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, First Degree, First Offense Methamphetamine

• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Second Degree, First Offense (Drug Unspecified, Less Than 20 Dosage Units)

• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Third Degree, First Offense (Drug Unspecified, Greater Than 20 Dosage Units)

• Drug Paraphernalia buy/possess

Middlesboro Police Department Statement Regarding Downtown Incident

The Middlesboro Police Department is actively investigating an incident that occurred in downtown Middlesboro involving a disturbance between multiple individuals. Officers responded quickly to the scene and immediately began securing the area, gathering evidence, and identifying those involved.

We understand that many residents, business owners, and visitors have concerns after reports of a physical altercation and fi****ms being displayed during the incident. While this remains an active investigation and certain details cannot be released at this time, we want the public to know that this matter is being taken very seriously.

Based on the information currently available, this incident appears to have involved specific individuals known to one another and was not a random act directed at the general public. Detectives are continuing to work diligently to determine all facts surrounding the incident and pursue any appropriate criminal charges.

The safety of our community remains our highest priority. The Middlesboro Police Department has increased its presence in the downtown area and will continue proactive patrol efforts to ensure residents, businesses, and visitors feel safe while enjoying our downtown district.

Incidents of this nature are uncommon in our downtown, and we remain confident in the safety of our community and the ability of our Department.

Middlesboro Police Arrest Another Methamphetamine Trafficker

On June 12, 2026, the Middlesboro Police Department arrested another methamphetamine trafficker. The arrest was the result of an investigation led by Lt./Det. Barry Cowan and Officer Gabe Price.

The investigation began after officers received complaints of drug trafficking activity in the east end area of the city. During the investigation, officers conducted a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from the accused, which was followed by the ex*****on of a search warrant.

During the ex*****on of the search warrant, officers located a quantity of methamphetamine, digital scales, and numerous bags commonly used in the distribution of narcotics. Officers also seized several fi****ms and an amount of U.S. currency.

David Aldridge was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Second Offense, and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon. Aldridge was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center, awaiting arraignment.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

🚔 DRUG ARREST FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP 🚔

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Officer Gabe Price and K-9 Sgt. Jake Quillen conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 25E.

During the investigation, officers located approximately 2.5 grams of suspected fentanyl, 4.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, and $285 in cash.

Patrick Malone, of Calvin, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, First Degree (Methamphetamine), First Offense, and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, First Degree (Carfentanil or Fentanyl derivatives), First Offense.

Malone was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.

Middlesboro Police Take Down Another Accused Drug Trafficker

On June 6, 2026, the Middlesboro Police Department arrested Ricky Adkins of Middlesboro on charges of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Trafficking in He**in, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Lt./Det. Barry Cowan made the arrest following a drug investigation that resulted in the charges. The attached photo depicts evidence obtained during the investigation.

Adkins was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center pending arraignment.

The Middlesboro Police Department remains aggressively committed to identifying, investigating, and arresting individuals who choose to traffic illegal narcotics in our community. Drug trafficking continues to have a devastating impact on families and neighborhoods, and we will continue working diligently to hold offenders accountable.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
