Youth Football & Cheerleading Update
Our school system and football program have officially decided to offer school-affiliated football beginning in 3rd grade, along with cheerleading. This is great news for our young athletes because it provides the proper funding, facilities, and support needed to continue growing and competing in the sport we all love.
We have hired highly qualified individuals on both the football and cheerleading sides who will work hard to ensure every child has a positive experience. Another benefit of this transition is that there will be no application fee. Fundraising may still be involved at times, as it is with most sports programs, to help provide additional gear and opportunities for our kids.
Our K-2 program will transition to a flag football league that will also include cheerleading. We have an excellent group of people leading that league as well, and we are excited about the direction it is headed.
We understand there have been several questions throughout this transition, and that is completely understandable as we move in a new but exciting direction. Please be on the lookout for upcoming dates and information specifically related to K-2 flag football and 3rd-4th grade tackle football, as workouts will begin in June.
We also encourage all youth athletes to attend our Youth Football Camp, which will be hosted by our high school and middle school coaching staffs on June 4th and 5th. We are excited about the future of Middlesboro football and look forward to building something special for our young athletes and families.
