Skillful aggressive interior firefighting saves lives and property. It takes practice under live fire conditions to perform this type of attack reliably. Today members of Westfield Fire traveled to the Litchfield County Fire School to practice victim rescue and fire extinguishment under live fire conditions. Crews worked together to meet the challenges that the instructors created. We want to thank the Litchfield County Fire School for allowing us to use their exceptional facility. Our members performed quickly, purposefully and professionally to be able to serve the community when needed.

Thanks to Middlefield Vol. Fire Co. for providing district coverage while our firefighters were sharpening their skills. Much appreciated!

As our members prepare for an upcoming live burn training coming up in two weeks, we spent this evening breaking down the skills that will be needed and doing repetitions stretching hose line to the seat of the fire, forcing entry through doors and conducting searches for victims. We used this opportunity also to provide pump operator training as well. Thank you to Middlefield Fire for allowing us to use their training building. If this looks like fun and you live in the Westfield District - come and learn about the benefits of becoming a volunteer firefighter with us! Information is on our website at www.westfieldfd.com
