This morning the Westfield Fire Department responded to assist Middlefield Fire Company with the tri-town hazmat trailer to a motor vehicle collision involving a large diesel spill. This asset is shared between Westfield, Middlefield and Durham. It was placed in service earlier this year, and this was its first response bringing necessary equipment to contain the diesel spill.

Westfield Fire would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Boston Fire Department and the friends and family of Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr. Firefighter Kilduff Jr tragically gave his life in the line of duty last night while battling a 3 alarm fire in Dorchester.

Our 131st consecutive Memorial Day parade will be held this Sunday rain or shine! Parade step off is at 12pm, going from the Old East Cemetery on East st to the Miner Street Cemetery, where a small ceremony will be held. Following the parade come join us for food and ice cream at the station! We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!

Tonight for drill members worked with new rope rescue equipment used to haul loads up inclines. Tonight’s evolution simulated a golf cart roll over on to a victim. Haul systems were set up while EMS crews treated the victim who was then brought up the incline.
