This is a very informative video as it highlights some important points about fireworks. Additionally, please use extra caution this weekend if you participate in lighting fireworks as the conditions are VERY dry. Please wet and discard your leftovers properly to avoid them reigniting and possibly catching grass, brush or worse your house on fire. HAPPY 4th!!!

13 years ago today, 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the community of Yarnell during the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to serving others continue to inspire firefighters across Arizona and beyond. While the years pass, their legacy never fades.

Today, we pause to remember their lives, honor their sacrifice, and keep their families, friends, and fellow firefighters in our thoughts.

Gone, but never forgotten.

The Bureau of Forestry will be offering the S-190 (Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior) and S-130 (Wildland Firefighter Training) courses in mid-January 2026. Space for this in-person course is limited*. Interested participants can apply at the following link: https://forms.office.com/g/2FG7QaBsiR

Courses will be held in Shippensburg, PA at Vigilant Hose Company #1 and West End Fire & Rescue (location varies by date). You must attend all dates listed for S-130 to complete the course.

S-190 - 1/20: 5 pm - 10 pm

S-130 - 1/22: 5 pm - 10 pm, 1/24: 8 am - 4 pm, 1/26: 5 pm - 10 pm, 1/28: 5 pm - 10 pm, 1/30: 5 pm -10 pm, 1/31: 8 am - 4 pm.

*A self-paced on-line option is available for both courses; however, S-130 still requires attending in-person on 1/31 to complete certification. Use the link above to apply for the on-line option.
