Wishing everyone a happy and joyous Christmas on this "Night before Christmas"

T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and V***n!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Congressman Pallone held a press conference earlier today at the Belford Seafood Co-op and we were there. Below is the press release

Pallone Demands Action Against Seafood Products from China:

Belford, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) hosted a press conference today to demand action against seafood products imported from China. Pallone sent a letter to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requesting that the agency take immediate action to improve the screening of seafood products imported from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to ensure compliance with international and domestic trade, safety, and labor standards.

The United States imports more than $2 billion of seafood products from China annually. Reports suggest a significant portion of seafood from China is produced through illegal and unethical labor practices, driving American seafood producers out of the market and harming domestic fishing industries and coastal economies.

“The PRC’s flagrant disregard for international and domestic laws allows China to export seafood that is often sold at low prices to establish a market advantage and drive out American seafood producers. The unscrutinized import of these seafood products, which are not held to the same rigorous environmental and labor standards as American seafood, harms domestic fishing industries and coastal economies,” Pallone wrote. “The United States must live up to its role as a leader in defending free and fair-trade systems based on the rule of law. Your agency has a responsibility to ensure our food imports are of the highest quality and in compliance with all applicable trade, safety, and labor standards. Any failure to do so will pose a significant threat to public health and our economic security.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MIDDLETOWN DEMOCRATS FILE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF CHARGES AGAINST MIDDLETOWN RESIDENT

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – [10/27/23] – The Middletown Democrats have taken legal action against a Middletown resident who admitted to vandalizing a campaign sign situated at the corner of Portland Rd. and Kings Highway. This admission, made via email to the Middletown Democratic candidate’s website, has been provided to law enforcement.

The Middletown Democrats are committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that those who engage in such activities are held accountable.

Campaigns are a fundamental component of our democratic process, allowing candidates to communicate their messages to the public and enabling residents to make informed decisions. It is unlawful for anyone to tamper with or remove campaign signs from properly designated areas. The destruction of campaign signs undermines the principles of free expression and democratic participation that are vital to our society.

The Middletown Democrats will continue to cooperate with the appropriate authorities throughout the legal process, and we appreciate their assistance in addressing this matter.

The Middletown Democrats do not support or condone the purposeful removal or destruction of campaign signs by any person regardless of one's political party affiliation or beliefs.

When incidents like this come to light, it tarnishes all those involved either directly or indirectly and can not be tolerated!

If a member of the public has an issue with the placement of a sign, they are to either contact the Township or the candidate/ political party responsible for the sign and ask that it be moved.

They should not take upon themselves to remove, damage or deface any political signage. It is against the law!

The sign, for Rocky Rios and Paige Gregorio, was located at the corner of Portland Rd. and Kings Highway.

🤣Rocky & Paige are familiar with typical campaign activities like knocking on doors and putting up signs. Knocking down signs... with a vehicle is an..... interesting strategy from some of our opposition.

We're not sure if they're trying to play bumper cars or just practicing their parallel parking skills, but our campaign sign is down for the count. 🚗💥

But on a more serious note, we've been through a lot as Democrats in Middletown. It's not always easy to be the minority in a town that's seen years of Republican control. Yet, we believe in the power of unity and respectful discourse. Let's rise above the bumps in the road, come together, and show that we can be better than this.

Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive Middletown. 🌟🇺🇸

The Middletown Democrats firmly believe in the integrity of our democratic institutions and the trust that our elected officials must maintain with the public. We believe it is essential that our representatives in Congress uphold the highest standards of ethics, accountability, and transparency. With that in mind, we respectfully call upon Senator Robert Menendez to step down from his position as a United States Senator.

Recent events and allegations surrounding Senator Menendez have cast a shadow over his ability to effectively represent the best interests of our state and the nation. While we acknowledge the principle of "innocent until proven guilty" in legal matters, maintaining the public's trust is paramount. For the sake of our democracy and the confidence of the constituents he serves, we believe that Senator Menendez's resignation is in the best interest of the people of New Jersey.

🌟 Celebrating the Mid-Dem Community Outreach Committee! 🌟

Today, we want to shine a spotlight on our incredible Mid-Dem Community Outreach Committee. This dedicated group of volunteers has been making a significant impact on our local community, and we couldn't be prouder of their selfless work.

They recently put together a heartwarming meal at the Bayshore Lunch program in Keyport, spreading warmth and nourishment to 30 wonderful individuals in need. The menu included homemade Waldorf Chicken Salad on a bed of various lettuces, sweet potato fries, hearty chicken noodle soup, assorted bread from Panera, pickles, garden cherry tomatoes, and a delightful assortment of cakes and mini pre-Halloween cupcakes.

Their commitment and enthusiasm truly warmed our hearts, and we want to express our gratitude to these fantastic volunteers who did it all with love and dedication.

Thank you for making a positive impact on our community! 🙏💙

🔍 **Redevelopment Reality Check** 🔍 Our town is buzzing with redevelopment plans, but are they truly working in the best interests of our community? 🤔 The Route 36 corridor project is raising eyebrows, with assurances of no eminent domain, but skepticism looms large. Meanwhile, a longstanding development saga (Village 35!) is resurfacing, and suddenly the town's considering condemnation – quite a shift from the approval of the Middletown Walk Luxury Townhomes near the site. 🏗️

The inconsistency continues in their legal battle elsewhere, revealing a pattern that's hard to ignore.

As Democrats, we value transparency and fairness. It's time to question these choices and demand accountability. What's your take on all of this?

Disappointed by the lack of progress! Our township's all-Republican committee promised affordable housing for veterans, yet no visible work has been done since the announcement in 2021, nor have any updates been posted on the advertised website: https://www.middletownnj.org/684/Our-Veterans

Our heroes deserve support and action, not just words. 🏡💪

🏠 Affordable Housing should mean INCLUSIVE housing, but our town's new luxury development missed the memo. 😞 Take a look: they've walled off the affordable unit! As Democrats, we stand for EQUALITY. It's time to hold our town leaders accountable and demand respect for affordable housing residents. Let's break down these walls and build a community where EVERYONE feels welcome! 💪
