At 3:35am this morning, MTFD was dispatched to the Woodsdale Duke Energy Generating Station in Madison Twp. for a reported structure fire. Units arrived on scene and found a working fire in a large generator onsite. Fire suppression was difficult due to the fact the unit had 345,000 volts of electricity running to it. Units on scene monitored the situation until a duke operator was able to respond and shutoff electric to the unit, at which point crews were able to extinguish the fire. We would like to thank our mutual aid partners from Fairfield Twp FD, Trenton FD, and St. Clair Twp FD for their response. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and no injuries were reported.

Today was a hard day for our Department

This afternoon we laid to rest Retired Firefighter Andy Bolen, a man who dedicated 46 years of service to this department and to the community he loved. Andy wasn’t just a firefighter, he was family. His presence in the firehouse, his kindness, and the way he cared for everyone around him left a lasting impact on all of us.

As we honored him today, we were reminded of the legacy he leaves behind…. one of service, compassion, and brotherhood that will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and continued prayers are with Andy’s family during this difficult time.

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners who helped cover our calls today while members attended the funeral, MPD and BCSO for assisting with the funeral es**rt, and our wonderful dispatchers at 9com who did a last call for Andy over the radio.

We love you Andy, and we know you are watching over us!

⚠️Severe Thunderstorm Watch⚠️
Valid until midnight tonight. Details are on the left side of the graphic. Eta still looks like 7-11 pm from northwest to southeast. 7-9 pm near I70. 9 pm to midnight closer to Cincinnati unless they develop sooner, which is possible. The severe threat should be over by midnight area wide.

The tornado threat is very low, but not zero. We will be here all evening with updates.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of “Papaw Andy”, who dedicated over 40 years serving the citizens of Madison Township as a firefighter out of Station 152. Please keep this wonderful family in your thoughts and prayers through this time.

Stay weather aware tonight and into the early morning hours

🚨RISKS EXPANDED🚨
The enhanced risk (level 3/5) expanded east again. The slight risk (level 2/5) expanded east a bit as well. 1/5 risk remains the same.

This squall line will be the strongest in Indiana tonight. It may be weakening as it moves near and east of I75, but we just don't know. Hi-resolution models struggle with these setups.

Damaging winds are likely and isolated tornadoes are possible, especially near and west of I75. That doesn't mean locations east of I75 won't see severe weather, they just have lower odds.

The ETA looks like 10 pm to 1 am near and west of I75. Midnight to 2 am near and east of I75.

I'll update as needed this afternoon and evening.

At 12:18pm today, MTFD was dispatched to the 5700 block of Trenton Franklin Rd for a single vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arrival, units found 1 vehicle off the road with heavy damage. The vehicle was occupied x 3 with the driver of the vehicle entrapped. Careflight was requested to respond to transport the driver to the hospital after they were extricated from the vehicle. We would like to thank Careflight and Middletown FD for their assistance on scene.

ROAD CLOSURE

Kalbfleisch Road is currently closed to all traffic due to downed phone lines blocking the roadway.

The closure is located between 6798 Kalbfleisch Road and Hetzler Road. AT&T has been notified and is working to get a crew on site shortly.

At this time, there is no estimated timeframe for when the road will reopen. We will share updates as they become available.

Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
