Last Thursday, IMPACT co-hosted the 2026 Nonprofit Candidate Forum alongside Ädelbrook Behavioral & Developmental Services, Gilead Community Services, Employment Opportunities, Inc., and Middlesex United Way. We thank CT State Middlesex for sharing their space for this forum.

More than a dozen local candidates were present to hear from nonprofits and community members about the critical impact that funding has on our ability to meet the needs of individuals with I/DD and their families.

Thank you to every one who attended!

It's been all good vibes this week at IMPACT in anticipation for today's celebration of World Smile Day!

Throughout the week, the folks in our day program completed a research project around World Smile Day and learned about the work of Harvey Ball. He brought the iconic yellow smiley face to the masses in 1963, then established World Smile Day in 1999. The day's official motto: "Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile."

The last step to our project was sharing what things make us all smile. The list includes spending time with friends, listening to music, eating favorite foods, coming to IMPACT & more. The photos we took and the list of smile-worthy things have taken over our in-house announcement boards and continue to keep the smiles coming.

A question to you all from us at IMPACT: what makes YOU smile??

We hope you can join us!
