Yesterday the Office of Governor Ned Lamont held a press conference at Community Action Agency of New Haven to announce the release of 12.7 million in state aid to the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) this winter season.

TEAM staff had the opportunity to attend the annual New England Community Action Conference, hosted in New Haven by our very own Connecticut Association for Community Action. We were grateful for the opportunity to connect with other Community Action Agencies across New England doing similar work in their own communities. We learned valuable lessons in our breakout sessions on: the Whole Family Approach, the science of decision-making, the art of reflective supervision, innovations in food access, parent participation in advocacy & community programs, mindfulness, federal funding streams, crisis communications and much more! It is an investment to take time away from the office and focus on learning - but this is one investment well worth it. TEAM staff are reinvigorated, inspired, and recharged to take on the work ahead.

First full day of our New England Community Action Partnership Conference! 🎉

A day filled with informative sessions, meaningful networking, and thoughtful discussion. There’s something special about connecting with the Community Action network across our region to share ideas, support one another, and gain new tools and resources to bring back to our own agencies and communities.

Connecticut Department of Social Services Commissioner, Andrea Barton-Reeves, Community Action Agency of New Haven, President & CEO, Amos Smith, and Providence Community Action Partnership President, David Banno, for opening up the day with motivating welcome remarks!

Save the date! CT paid leave will be hosting a free Family Fun Expo on Saturday, October 10th, 2026, from 10AM-2PM at the Dixwell Community “Q House”.

This is a fair where families can walk around and learn more information about the resources and organizations available to them throughout the state and in their own community.

As parents/guardians network and learn about the different services in their area, kids will enjoy face painting, balloon twisting, crafts, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and much more!
