Construction continued the Conewago Creek Restoration this week, finishing the work on the unnamed tributary, then starting on the main bank. Currently, work has been completed up to the halfway point of the south bank, where at times, up to 4 feet of legacy sediment had to be removed to restore the area to its historical floodplain levels. Work on this bank will continue up creek, where it will meet with the already completed phase three of the project. Once work on the south bank is complete, the same process will begin on the north side, working from phase three back down to Route 230 Bridge.

The Conewago Creek restoration continued this week with a focus on the unnamed tributary that leads to the main stem of the creek. The work done on this section removed 4,500 cubic yards of legacy sediment from the waterway and is restoring the tributary to its natural floodway. The plunge pool and island pictured below will help to dissipate the water’s energy to reduce future scouring, and when fully planted, this area will be restored to the historical wetland conditions that it once presented.

Roush Rd will be closed from August 4-6 between the hours of 7:00am - 2:00pm for storm sewer pipe replacements and trench paving. The posted detour will be N Deodate Rd to Beagle Rd to Schoolhouse Rd to Colebrook Rd. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is in preparation for a total reconstruction of Roush Rd in 2027. Thank you. Any questions, call 717-944-9440.

Swatara Creek Rd will be closed Wednesday, July 8 between E Harrisburg Pk and Iron Mine Rd to replace a storm sewer pipe and repair a pothole. The road will be closed from 7:00am to 2:00pm.

Londonderry Township Residents - Those in need of a cooling station can go to the Geyers United Methodist Church at 1605 S Geyers Church Road, Middletown. Church Membership is not a requirement.
