What should ANA hear from Connecticut nurses?

Before nursing leaders gather in Washington, DC for ANA’s Membership Assembly, we’re bringing Connecticut nurses together to discuss three important national topics:

🌿 Cannabis Care & Nursing Practice
🤝 Bullying & Incivility in Nursing
🏥 Nurses Leading Health System Sustainability

Your insights, experiences, and perspectives help shape the conversations we bring to the national level.

Whether you’re a student, bedside nurse, APRN, educator, administrator, or retired nurse, your voice matters.

Looking for an update on that whole
“nursing isn’t a professional degree” thing?

Here’s where things stand:

The federal graduate loan rule is now FINAL.

🤝Connecticut joined a multistate coalition lawsuit challenging the rule.
📁 announced plans for additional legal action focused on nursing.
🏛️Congress introduced H.R. 8659: the “Nursing is a Professional Degree Act.”

So no, nurses are not staying quiet about this.

This is why nurses need a strong professional voice.

As Connecticut continues addressing the nursing workforce crisis, today’s press conference at Three Rivers Community College highlighted another major threat to the future pipeline: federal student loan borrowing limits impacting graduate nursing education.

Congressman Joe Courtney brought together nursing leaders, educators, and advocates to address what these changes could mean for Connecticut nurses and patient care access across the state.

At the same time Connecticut is advancing workforce solutions through legislation like HB 5003, conversations like this matter. Protecting the future of nursing means supporting nurses at every level, from education to workforce retention.

Perimenopause and menopause are finally getting the attention they deserve 👏

For way too long, women have been told to “just deal with it” while navigating exhaustion, weight changes, anxiety, brain fog, sleep disruption, burnout, hormone shifts, and feeling completely unlike themselves.

This month’s CNA Professional Development Webinar is all about changing that conversation.

We’re excited to welcome Jessica Dean, RD, CDN for:
✨ Nourishing Beyond the Plate: Supporting Women Through Menopause

This isn’t another “eat less and exercise more” talk.

It’s a real conversation about hormones, stress, nutrition, the nervous system, and what women actually need during perimenopause and menopause.

Whether you’re a nurse, healthcare professional, or someone personally navigating this stage of life, this is such an important topic.

Big news today.

Today, Governor Ned Lamont signed HB 5003 into law in Connecticut.

CT Nurses Association President Cassandra Esposito attended today’s bill signing of legislation that includes stronger protections for healthcare workers experiencing workplace violence, expanded workers’ compensation protections for healthcare workers assaulted on the job, and stronger accountability around hospital staffing plans.

Thank you to the nurses, healthcare workers, advocates, legislators, and CNA members who spoke up, testified, organized, and kept these conversations moving forward.

Advocacy matters.
