Today, the members of the City of Middletown Fire Department extend our thoughts and prayers to our brothers and sisters of Coldenham Fire-Rescue following the devastating fire that heavily damaged their firehouse and apparatus.

We are relieved to hear that the five firefighters injured during the incident have been treated and released, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.

A firehouse is the heart of a department, a place where firefighters come together to serve and protect their community. Seeing one of our own departments suffer such a loss is heartbreaking for the entire fire service.

To the members of Coldenham: please know that you are not facing this challenge alone. The fire service is one family, and we stand with you as you begin the difficult road to recovery and rebuilding.

Stay strong, stay safe, and know that the thoughts and support of the Middletown Fire Department are with you every step of the way. 🚒❤️

🔥 ONE SPARK IS ALL IT TAKES. 🔥

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, the City of Middletown Fire Department is reminding everyone that personal fireworks are illegal within the City of Middletown—including sparklers and other sparkling devices—regardless of where they were purchased.

With the current extreme heat and dry conditions, grass, mulch, leaves, brush and other outdoor materials can ignite much more easily. Something that appears to be a “small” spark can quickly become a rapidly spreading fire that threatens homes, vehicles and neighboring properties.

⚠️ Sparklers are not harmless. They can burn at approximately 2,000°F—hot enough to melt some metals. In 2025 alone, an estimated 1,300 people were treated in emergency rooms for sparkler-related injuries.

Please help protect our community:

🚫 Do not light fireworks or sparklers within the City.�🚫 Do not allow children to handle any device that produces sparks or flames.�🚫 Never discard anything that may still be hot into garbage, mulch or dry vegetation.�☎️ If a fire starts, move to safety and call 911 immediately.

🇺🇸 Celebrate America’s 250th birthday safely. Leave the fireworks to licensed professionals—and help ensure that Middletown’s firefighters spend the holiday celebrating with their families instead of responding to a preventable fire.

Fireworks are illegal. The conditions are dangerous. The risk simply isn’t worth it.

At 13:07 hrs the Middletown FD was dispatched to a 2 car MVA on North St, Middletown PD and Empress were also on scene.

05/26/2026

At 18:22 hours Middletown FD was dispatched to a one car MVA car into a porch. Units responded and found one patient in the car with no entrapment. Middletown PD and Empress were on scene with Building Inspector.
