Our Adult and Family Shelters provide emergency housing for single men, single women and families. Our guests are provided three nutritionally balanced meals each day, transportation, and counseling to help them to become self-sufficient. HONOR is an acronym for Helping Others Needing Our Resources and strives to do just that, help others needing our resources. We provide individualized and integrated services to people who may be in need of temporary or transitional housing, or requiring crisis intervention. Our staff is committed to reconstructing the self-esteem, self-sufficiency, and dignity of our clients through access to counseling, training in marketable employment skills, and above all, nonjudgmental compassion and care. It is the vision of HONORehg to assist all clients to receive help appropriate to their needs so they may enjoy the growth and development which is their right as human beings.

Mental health and housing are deeply connected.

Without stable housing, managing health challenges becomes significantly harder. Access to care is inconsistent, and support systems are often difficult to navigate.

At HONOR, services are designed to meet people where they are, connecting individuals and families to housing, crisis support, and coordinated care that helps them move toward stability.

Because progress is more possible when support is consistent and accessible.

Support systems matter.

Housing. Hope. A Path Forward.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is a reminder of the responsibility we share to care for one another, especially those who may be facing hardship, instability, or transition.

In our communities, that means ensuring individuals and families have access to safe housing, support systems, and the resources needed to move forward.

Because honoring service also means showing up for those in need.

Housing. Hope. A Path Forward.

Please note: HONOR’s Food Pantry will be closed on Memorial Day. It will reopen on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m.

Our food pantry is the single largest in Orange County. With support from the Nourish New York Initiative and the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, we offer fresh seasonal produce, poultry, beef, dairy, dry goods, and canned foods in a market-style setting. Nearly 300 families rely on HONOR’s food pantry each week.

As demand continues, community support plays an essential role in keeping these resources available to those who need them most.

Members of our leadership team recently attended the National Council for Mental Wellbeing's conference in , joining more than 5,000 human service leaders from across the country to explore the future of behavioral health care.

HONOR participated in keynote presentations, panel discussions, and collaborative conversations, returning inspired, energized, and excited to bring new ideas and insights back to the lower Hudson Valley.

In between conference sessions, Chris, Liz, and Eve completed a team-building hike at Echo Mountain, reaching elevations of nearly 11,800 feet together — an experience that reflects the resilience, teamwork, and determination that drive HONOR’s work every day.

Thank you to the National Council for Mental Wellbeing for hosting such a meaningful event!

💞 Happy Mother's Day!

This Mother’s Day, we’re thinking of the families working toward stability and a fresh start.

On any given night, HONOR’s emergency shelter may serve more than 20 families, many led by mothers doing everything they can to care for their children.

Support, stability, and safe housing can change the path forward for an entire family.

Housing. Hope. A Path Forward.
