Members of the Connecticut Chapter of the Yankee National Party (YNP) have proudly voted to endorse Democrat Josh Elliott for Governor.
Josh grew up in Guilford, Connecticut, attended high school in Hamden, and graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Ithaca College. He later went on to obtain his J.D. at Quinnipiac School of Law. Since his first election to public office in 2016, he has established himself as a leading progressive voice, advancing policies that strengthen Connecticut’s economy and keep it competitive with surrounding states.
Taking on Real Fights - and Winning
As the founder of the Tax Equity Caucus and the Progressive Caucus, Josh has been a driving force in efforts to reform Connecticut’s regressive tax system, ensuring that the wealthiest residents pay their fair share rather than endlessly shifting the burden onto low-income families. His commitment to working families is evident in his support for recently-adopted landmark legislation, including raising the minimum wage, guaranteeing paid sick days for all Connecticut workers, and establishing paid family and medical leave.
Josh believes that the right to vote is a fundamental feature of government, and he has sponsored several bills aimed at efficiently reforming Connecticut’s electoral system. Among these are a bill that would restore voting privileges of formerly incarcerated individuals on parole, and another that would implement a ranked-choice voting system. Josh was a supporter of SB 386, for which the YNP lobbied hard in early 2026 to be brought to the Senate floor for a vote.
The YNP is particularly excited about Josh’s push to hold Eversource accountable and make energy pricing more affordable for folks in Connecticut. The YNP has advocated for more direct action being taken by the state to provide public options for essential utilities like electricity, and Josh is the first candidate for Governor in the state’s history who seeks to follow this path and take real actions to make the lives of the average citizen affordable.
Alignment with the YNP
Josh Elliot personally completed the YNP’s Candidate Questionnaire, which has afforded our Party the opportunity to issue grades for Josh as he aligns with our five core values: Self-Determination, Integrity, Democracy, Empathy, and Sustainability. We are very pleased to say that Josh earned all As on his YNP Scorecard.
In his questionnaire, Josh pointed out that he has never accepted PAC money and in turn cannot be bought out by special interests; he is supportive of replacing revenue streams with progressive forms of taxation, placing the burden of taxation on the wealthy rather than those most in need, and he underscored his championing of Ranked Choice Voting.
“Let's take our country back from the billionaires,” Josh said in closing on his YNP questionnaire.

Next Steps with Josh’s Campaign
As an endorsed candidate, 150+ registered members of the CT YNP will be engaged in an effort to increase volunteerism for Josh’s campaign which will include door knocking, phone calling, and texting. All voters are encouraged to get out and vote for Josh during the August Primary - and then again during the general election.
