Established in 1982, Midfield Volunteer Fire Department started out with a handful of willing volunteers and two trucks. Midfield Volunteer Fire Department has since grown to become one of the largest departments in Matagorda County. The department believes in providing the citizens of Matagorda County with the highest and most professional quality of service possible. Midfield VFD provides EMS/Fi

rst responder, fire suppression, and rescue services to the citizens of Matagorda County. Midfield VFD is 100% volunteer and relies nearly entirely on donations for most of its daily expenses. The department has scheduled training twice a month (4 hours) and has a business meeting once a month. The department is always accepting applications for membership, whether it be for operations or support staff. If you are interested in helping your community, feel free to message us for more information. Midfield VFD currently operates out of one station covering approximately 120sq miles. Midfield VFD provides automatic aid to Blessing and Tres Palacios Oaks through mutual aid agreements. Total Personnel: 30

Tonight we placed our old white pumper, as we call it, back in service. This truck was involved in a wild fire accident a year and a half ago. We felt that it is safe to use as we are still rebuilding it. The new unit number for this pumper will be Engine 82. This puts the Midfield Station at 3 Engines, 3 Grass Trucks, Ladder, Tanker, and a Command Unit. For the first time in a year and a half we are full capacity.

The pager doesn’t know that you’ve barely slept

It doesn’t know that you’re carrying the weight from yesterday

It doesn’t know that you just sat down to eat

It doesn’t know that you were about to spend time with your family

It doesn’t know that you’re mentally drained

It doesn’t know you’re exhausted

It only knows that somewhere, someone needs help

This past May we help our annual BBQ Cookoff Fundraiser at El Maton National Hall. Thanks to your generous donations we made upwards of 18K to go towards running our department. We are only allocated $2500 a year for operating expenses from Matagorda County. The only way that we can continue to provide our services is from monetary support from this fundraiser. We thank each and everyone of you who faithfully support us. See yall again next year.

Midfield Volunteer Fire Department would like to welcome back one of our own members! Cory McKelvy has been on deployment within two countries overseas for the past 9 months. Cory was stationed in Lithuania and Germany! Cory is a vital part of our fire department, and was also on Bay City VFD. I personally would like to thank you for your service to our country, and to our community alike. Cory is still on active duty for the remainder of his commitment, but will be stationed at Ft Hood. Cory Welcome Back sir!
