Midland County Probate and Family Court Foster Care Juvenile Court Foster Care Program Foster Care Programs

The Midland County Family Division offers specialized foster care programs for teens.

An emergency placement program exists for teens needing a short-term stay (30 days or less). A longer program exists for teens that are unable to return home for a period of time (average stay of 6 months). The teens are involved with the Court for a variety of reasons. They may be truant from school, runaways, or they may have committed some type of offense. They usually come from homes where the

re is caos and the teen and the parent need a time apart to work on their issues. The goal of foster care is to provide the teenager with guidance and direction and reunite them with their family. Therapeutic Foster Care

Therapeutic foster care is a least restrictive, community-based program for children who have special needs. The youth's needs can be met through services delivered primarily by trained therapeutic foster parents and members of a treatment team. Support from all treatment team members allows the child to benefit from a home environment and community-based setting while receiving intensive treatment and services. Therapeutic Foster Care is an alternative to residential placement and allows the youth to remain in their community. Therapeutic Foster Parents are an essential part of the treatment team.
