Midland Township Fire – Extrication Training 4/1/26

Tonight’s training wasn’t our typical vehicle extrication. Instead of a standard car or pickup, we received a small motorhome to work on — a very different challenge from what we usually see.

This gave our crews the chance to:

• Practice stabilization on a heavier, taller, and more complex vehicle
• Work through unique construction features like walls, cabinetry, and interior obstacles
• Explore access points and cut paths that differ significantly from passenger vehicles
Training on something out of the ordinary helps prepare us for the real world, where no two incidents are ever the same. Nights like this sharpen our skills and keep our team ready for whatever comes our way.

Midland Township Fire Department – New Fire Station Planning Update

The Midland Township Fire Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Midland Township Board for supporting the planning and development of a new fire station. This project represents an important investment in the safety, readiness, and long‑term resilience of our community.

After a thorough review process, Pumford Construction has been selected as the builder for the new facility. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026, marking a major milestone in strengthening our emergency response capabilities for years to come.

This station will enhance operational efficiency, improve response times, and provide our firefighters with the modern resources they need to serve the residents of Midland Township with professionalism and pride.

We look forward to sharing additional updates as the project moves forward.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by Homer Township Fire Department, Lee Township Fire Department, City of Midland Fire Department, MyMichigan EMS, and Midland County 911.
