During the month of August, Northeast Fire Department was dispatched to and responded with apparatus to 75 calls for service, including mutual aid responses into Martin County for fires and motor vehicle accidents.

That brings our 2026 YTD total to 607 calls!

We’re proud to continue serving our community and assisting our neighboring agencies whenever the call comes in. Thank you to our members for the countless hours they dedicate to keeping our communities safe.

90-DAY BURN BAN IN EFFECT

Midland County is currently under a 90-day burn ban due to dry conditions and the increased risk of wildfires.

Please use extra caution with anything that could cause a spark or start a fire. Avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of ci******es, secure trailer chains, and be mindful when using equipment outdoors.

It only takes one spark to start a fire that can quickly get out of control.

Please help us protect our community, our property, and our first responders. Stay safe and help us prevent the next wildfire.

At the request of TDEM, Our 4000g tender is currently being deployed on a TIFMAS assignment to the Ross Fire, staffed by Horizon Fire Department.

We are proud to support the ongoing firefighting efforts and assist our fellow agencies working to protect lives and property across Texas.

Northeast and Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department are spending the day at the Midland County Fair!

Our crews are out selling tickets, visiting with the community, and giving the kids a chance to get behind the hose and spray some water. Judging by the wet pavement, they’ve been putting in some work!

We always enjoy getting our departments together and being part of events like this. If you’re at the fair today, stop by, say hello, and let the kids have a little fun with the fire hose!

Every year, it’s one of our favorite traditions!

We had the privilege of spraying down the Midland Lee Band as they kicked off another year. What started as a fun tradition has become something we look forward to every year.

Nothing beats seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter, and getting to be a part of the Midland community. We’re proud to support our local students, band, and the traditions that make this community great.

Not only do they open their yard to us for valuable vehicle extrication training, but they also stepped up to help get our parking lot back into top shape.

On July 4, 2025, we deployed to Ingram to assist with rescue and recovery operations alongside numerous agencies from across Texas. That deployment made one thing clear, we had identified a gap in our training. Living in the dry climate of West Texas, swift water rescue wasn’t something we ever expected to need, but we knew we couldn’t ignore the lesson.

At Northeast Fire Department, our goal is to be an asset to our community and neighboring counties. We sincerely hope we never have to experience what so many communities in the Hill Country have endured. But if that day ever comes, we will be ready to answer the call.

We enrolled in a FAST (Flood & Swift water Technician) class and committed to becoming better prepared. It was a great 3 day class with our brothers at Howard County Volunteer Fire Department and Mason Volunteer Fire Department.

At the request of TDEM, Northeast Fire Department is deploying one of our tenders to San Antonio as part of a TIFMAS assignment. While we were unable to provide the staffing ourselves, Reeves County Emergency Service Districts Nos. 1 & 2 stepped up to provide the personnel needed to get the apparatus on the road.

We are grateful for their partnership and willingness to answer the call.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Texans affected by the devastating flooding. Stay safe, and thank you to every responder working to protect lives and support their communities.
