By doing so we can stop a runaway legal system that is in disorder. A system that preys on our vulnerable neighbors. The sick, poor, elderly, minority, ....., maybe that person is even you. The run-away system makes no distinction. After they are done with their victim they come to the taxpayer for the incarceration, parents, and other life-long costs associated with a criminal record. Since Michigan voters passed the Michigan Medical Ma*****na Act in 2008, the number of ma*****na arrests has risen 20%. That’s 20% more families losing their children, a job, property, and freedom. That was not the intent of the voters. Adding to the harm, not only are we more legally vulnerable but policy makers favor larger corporate interests over local entrepreneurs, restricting competition, driving up prices, and destroying jobs. Circumventing the will of The People need not stand. Michigan needs to completely Decriminalize/Deregulate Cannabis. No More Arrests, No More Felonies, No More Misdemeanors, No Civil Infractions, No Penalties of Any Kind for any Adult 18+ for use of cannabis, unless there is a clear and present victim complaint that can be witnessed in Court. Parents have the right to choose the best treatment and medicine to use, including cannabis for their children. Minors will be returned to Parents/Guardians to be dealt with, instead of dealing with them by Law. Remove Cannabis from the Michigan Controlled Substances Act. Regulation and Taxes will be generated and applied as Cannabis Based Products are brought to the retail market just as every other product that is sold is highly regulated and taxed. This would generate 1000 times the potential tax base than what a legal ounce could generate in its best day. There is no need to reinvent the wheel, just clear the nails out of the road.
