Just Announced Last Week: voucher holders, low income, seniors, disabled, veterans and dv survivors have had major federal and state housing funding cuts. If overcrowding was already an issue, Illinois is now reducing 3 Bedroom holders to 2 bedrooms, reducing 2 bedrooms to a single bed. Making it impossible for parents or caregivers to have their own rooms. It is already illegal in most cities for families with both s*x children to be housed in any one or two bedroom rentals. This announcement came as a shock to some of our current holders who may be forced to move and already found it difficult to find the home they just moved into. We are working at Joy and with our local agencies to find solutions as many may be forced to extend stays at hotels and temporary housing while continuing their search for viable rentals that will accept and pass HUD inspections.
