Fatality Accident Investigation
January 24, 2022

On January 23, 2022 at approximately 8:21 PM, the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch received reports of a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of US HWY 287 near Presidential Parkway. Patrol officers from the Midlothian Police Department were dispatched to that location. Within minutes of the original call, while officers were enroute to the area, Dispatch received an update to the call indicating that the wrong-way driver had struck a vehicle that was traveling northbound on US HWY 287.

The vehicle that was traveling in the wrong direction was occupied only by the driver, who has been identified as Bettye Stafford, 83, of Midlothian. The other vehicle was occupied by the driver, identified as Jyntri Tillery, 26, of Crowley as well as her 6 year-old daughter. Both Stafford and Tillery were killed in the collision. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital in Dallas and is currently stable condition.

At this time, investigators suspect that Ms. Stafford had left the parking lot of the Whataburger located at 2440 Presidential Parkway and turned left in to the northbound lanes US HWY 287. Please keep in mind that our investigation is still ongoing.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those involved in the crash.

Please everyone, we are on our 3rd accident of the day at the bottom of the hill where westbound HY 287 off ramp meets northbound HY 67 access road.

The problem here, and everywhere else, is that the oil on the roads have come to the surface and there has not been enough rain to wash it off. The mist is just enough to bring the oil to the top, without washing it away.

Please slow down a bit more than you think.

All cross streets in old Town should have actual 4-way stop signs. I can't tell you how many times I've almost been hit by a vehicle not even looking. Including a police and city employee vehicle.
If anyone seen or could check their cameras, or has any information on a light colored pickup truck with paper plates (the paper plates could have just been a cover up) from inbetween North 9th st, and the school bus barn in Midlothian, TX last night July 19th, around 10:30 - 11:00 PM please let me know, Whoever it was stole my dads Dodge Challenger RT S**t Pack, they didn't make it very far with it before running a stop sign and a cop turning on his lights. They did get away and ditched the car in the bus barn parking lot and hopped into the truck mentioned above. Whoever it was knew what they were doing because they cut the window out, sat It near the curb, and programmed their own key fob or something, and made It to where the car would not recognize my dads key fob anymore . Locking your car doors around here is not enough, get cameras apnd park your car in your garage!
RE: The Missy Bevers case. There is a new method of DNA collection that is far superior to traditional DNA collection. It is called M-vac. Perhaps, its time to re-examine whatever evidence you have in the case using this new and effective technology. Here is the information.
why didn't the commander insist the officers do their job correctly, he is as guilty by negligence and dereliction of duty
I'm glad I don't live in your town since your cops show favoritism to the people they pull over. One day to "think about what they did"? Did that ever work on your kids? Well, it never worked on mine - the doctor, the nurse, the soldier, or any of my other kids. I guarantee it didn't work on your cops either. But what should I care i don't live there, thank God.
Congratulations on being the latest department to tarnish the badge.
So can yall tell us now what happened on our street? Melanie trail folks are all wondering why we had an entire police force on our street for days!!!
Hello! Are there any volunteer opportunities with our police department?
Curious? Has the Missy Bevers murder case been solved yet?
