6. Comments promoting or opposing any person campaigning for election to a political office or promoting or opposing any ballot proposition are prohibited.
7. The promotion or advertisement of a business or commercial transaction is prohibited.
8. Communications made through social media platforms will in no way constitute a legal or official notice or comment to the City of Midlothian or any official of the City for any purpose. For example, a post or comment that asks that the City provide public records will not be considered a public records request until it is sent through the proper channels.
9. Duplicate posts are prohibited.
10. For the protection of privacy, comments that include personal information such as Social Security Numbers, phone numbers and e-mail addresses are prohibited.
11. Anonymous postings are prohibited. Commenters are required to use their full name.
12. All postings to the city pages must be a direct post. Any postings through tagging will be deleted. Responses to City-generated messages are encouraged. Other comments regarding City of Midlothian projects or programs should be submitted directly to the appropriate department.

K9 EDITION 🐾

You see police K9 Bear or Roscoe working alongside their handler. They are clearly the goodest of boys…so naturally, you want to say hello.

Would you:

A. Walk over and pet the dog immediately because look at those faces
B. Ask their handler for permission before approaching
C. Offer the K9 your leftover snacks
D. Challenge them to a game of fetch

The correct answer may hurt your feelings, but even the goodest boys have important jobs to do! 🐾

Missing your new phone?

On August 24th, a City of Midlothian Water Dept. employee found a brand‑new cell phone in the Kroger parking lot at 2200 FM 663. The phone was turned in to the Midlothian Police Department. Although were able to unlock the device, it contains no identifying information — no emails, texts, owner info, or apps. The carrier was contacted but they also could not identify the owner The phone is not listed as stolen.

This partnership gives teachers real-world insight they can bring back to their classrooms, helping prepare students for future careers. The Midlothian Police Department has recognized four officers for their extraordinary life‑saving actions during two critical incidents in July 2026.

Officer Arthur Fletcher, Officer Elijah Samuels, Corporal Zachary Abrahams, and Sergeant Drew Wilson have each been awarded the Midlothian Police Department’s Lifesaving Award, one of the department’s highest honors.

Officer’s Swift Response Saves Overdose Victim

On July 16, 2026, Dispatch received an emergency call reporting an overdose at The Oasis Bar, located just outside the city limits. Officer Arthur Fletcher, recognizing the urgency of the situation, immediately self‑assigned to the call and arrived within minutes. Upon arrival, Officer Fletcher located an unconscious male exhibiting labored breathing and frothing at the mouth—signs consistent with a severe opioid overdose. Acting decisively, he administered Narcan, successfully reviving the victim. Medics arrived shortly thereafter and transported the individual to Midlothian Methodist for further treatment. A charge nurse later informed the shift’s Watch Commander that Officer Fletcher’s rapid response and timely administration of Narcan were instrumental in saving the man’s life. Without his swift intervention, the victim likely would not have survived.

Three Officers Prevent Tragedy on HWY 287 Bridge

On July 26, 2026, Officer Elijah Samuels, Corporal Zachary Abrahams, and Sergeant Drew Wilson responded to a report of a suicidal female armed with a knife on the Walter Stevenson Bridge over HWY 287.

Officer Samuels and Sergeant Wilson immediately began de‑escalation efforts, speaking calmly with the distraught woman and encouraging her to step away from the edge. Corporal Abrahams worked quickly to close the busy highway below, ensuring the safety of motorists and officers.

For approximately 30 minutes, the officers maintained communication, used time and distance to remain safe, and continued building rapport. When the subject remained intent on harming herself, the officers developed a plan to safely intervene using less‑lethal options. Sergeant Wilson created a distraction, allowing Officer Samuels to deploy his ECW, immobilizing the subject long enough for officers to move in and secure her safely. She was then transported to a facility for professional care.

For their decisive actions, these officers are hereby awarded the Midlothian Police Department’s Lifesaving Award. Please help us congratulate them all!
