One of the first organizations of the village was the fire department, the “Bucket Brigade.” The Midway Volunteer Fire Department began in the late 1890’s with a group of men who came together when an old feed mill and several houses caught fire. Social Media Comment Policy for Readers:

Any official page or group sanctioned by Midway Volunteer Fire Department will allow for public comments and postings, with a goal of fostering open and transparent communication between officials and residents, as well as promoting and strengthening the positive character of our department and community. We are proud to share with you the monthly report that we receive from The HAAS Alert Safety System, Safety Cloud. Back in 2023, four (4) of our apparatus were installed with the transponders to send notifications instantly to navigation apps and some Stellantis vehicles.

Digital alerts warn drivers of an emergency vehicles and crews allowing them more time to slow down, move over and make safer maneuvers. When your emergency or flashing lights are activated, Safety Cloud begins notifying drivers that your crew/vehicles are nearby. Digital alerts are proven to be more effective today than traditional lights and sirens.

As you will see, just last month, this system alerted 852 drivers and year to date, 3,622. This system is to help protect our fire fighters while they are out on the roads helping you or your loved ones in a bad situation on the highways.

The Adult Scavenger Hunt scheduled for Friday September 19, 2026, has been canceled due to low participation. Those that have registered have been notified via email.
