Following the fire on Monday night in our borough, a GoFundMe page has been created for the mother and children who lost everything. As for donating clothing and school supplies, we’re not entirely sure who is collecting them or where to drop them off. We’ve seen a few possible locations but can’t confirm the details.

If you’d like to offer financial support, the GoFundMe page is available, and any amount you can give will be deeply appreciated.

Scavenger Hunt General Information:

Teams consist of 2-4 people
Teams will drive around the area looking for items on our list of finds.
The majority of the items on the list are commonly found, can be found by Internet Search, or your phone’s map app.
The items needing to be found will either be a team photo with the item or a physical item must be brought back with you at the end of the hunt.
After the hunt ends, we will all meet at the Fire Department Social Hall for dinner and we will crown the winner.
The first place team wins a cash prize.
Also provided is a list of general rules for our scavenger hunt. This maintains safety and fairness for all during the activity.
Sign up for the Hunt with the link below or stop in with our paid firefighters Monday-Friday 8-4p.
Registration closes September 11th, 2026.

This morning at 12:30 am we were called to a structure fire at 111 South Main Street in the Borough. When Chief 13 arrived on scene he found the house with heavy fire from the AD side and our firefighters had a quick knockdown. We did a primary search and found no occupants but did rescue a dog from the house. The dog had no injures and is doing well.

Thank you to the following departments who assisted us this morning: McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, Mt. Pleasant VFC, Slovan/Smith Township Volunteer Fire Department, Sturgeon Volunteer Fire Department, Burgettstown Volunteer Fire Co., Inc., Hanover Fire Department Washington County, Cecil Township Vol. Fire Company #3, Cecil Township Fire Department - Station 2, Imperial Volunteer Fire Department, Smith Township Police Department, Fort Cherry Ambulance Services, Inc and The Salvation Army.
