Midway is so remarkable. In one Saturday:

- four city council members were honored for their military service.
- The three daughters and great-grandson of coaching legend and WCPS Hall of Fame inductee Davey Whitney (born in Midway) visited the Midway Museum to receive my proclamation naming this coming week as Davey Whitney Week in Midway, an idea from one of my predecessors, Tom Bozarth.
- The Midway Reimagined Market dazzled visitors in the Courtyard.
- A packed room of people admired the plein-air work of local artists.
- A block party will fill the streets tonight.

When I say this is the greatest small town in America, it’s not lip service.

This morning, at the Woodford County Military Freedom Festival, we recognized four Midway City Council Members who have served, one of whom is still serving. What a great representation of the spirit of service that Midway citizens have always exhibited.

Every renter has a right to good living conditions. The treasure they hand over each month must ensure a safe environment.

The Midway School Apartments was a great project that turned the old Midway High School into a living facility that serves mostly seniors. Unfortunately, residents have continued to reach out to us, desperate for help, due some serious conditions that present numerous health and safety concerns.

We’re a small city and don’t have the resources to solve the problem, but we do have the ability to make their voices heard.

Thank you to Leigh Searcy and LEX 18 for helping to amplify that voice. I urge you to tune in tonight for her reporting.

Thank you to the residents who’ve had the courage to make their voices heard. We will not tolerate neglect.
